What a weekend. It’s kind of hard to keep up with the reviews when you’ve got playoff tickets for a three game weekend set. The Angels came back to town tied 1-1 with the Twins and 72 amazing hours later were on their way to the World Series.

I watched Friday’s game from home while reviewing some movies. Mrs. Rog took her father to the game and they saw a very tight affair. A late inning home run by Troy Glaus and some great pitching gave the Angels a 2-1 win and a 2-1 series lead. For Saturday’s game, Mrs. Rog stayed home while I took my father. It was his first post season game and it was quite a thrill to treat him to such a cool thing. Again the Angels and Twins played a close game with great pitching until late. A 2 run 7th and big 5 run 8th and all of a sudden it was a 3-1 series. That left Sunday for Mrs. Rog and I to enjoy a game together. The game was tight, with three Angel home runs giving them a 3-2 lead when the wheels fell off. The Twins got 3 runs in the 7th and led by 2. Then something incredible happened. Like in last week’s 8 run outburst against the Yankees, the Angels suddenly couldn’t stop hitting. They banged out 10 hits and scored a remarkable 10 runs to open up an 8 run lead. All that stood between the Angels and the Series were six little outs. Unlike 1986, there was no major collapse. The Angels swept the weekend set and took the series 4-1.

So now we’ve got tickets to games 1 and 2 of the World Series. If it goes 6 or 7, we’ve got seats for those games as well. I’m beyond happy with how this weekend turned out. The Angles had a great series and so far, a great season. The fans who have waited 42 years finally have their shot at the ring. I got to treat my father to something wonderful and spend a night with him that we won’t forget. I also got to hand my ticket over to my father in law so he could enjoy the same thing with his daughter. I shared the clinching game with Mrs. Rog and got to scream my lungs out with 45 thousand other nutty fans.

So if you will forgive the smaller than usual number of reviews this weekend, I promise to work extra hard to make it up to you. I had a once in a lifetime weekend and I can honestly say that I as go to bed tonight, this was as close to perfect as my life can currently get.
