For the most part the guys handle their job well. I’ve already discussed the two biggest problems in this movie. They are pretty simple really. First off, the running time is a problem. Every single scene should be edited down and tightened up. There is good stuff here, but people are too in love with running time. Sometimes the tighter version is just a whole lot better. This movie isn’t the worse I have seen in this regard, but it still needs to be trimmed to strengthen the overall heat. The other problem is that Juan’s act behind the camera just doesn’t work. It doesn’t work when other directors do it and it doesn’t work here. It ends up sounding like he is desperate to let us know that he’s back there. Let the work speak for you and just get out of the way. Directors talking this way just distract us from what we should be paying attention to. So that’s it. This is a good genre movie that would be a great one with a little tweaking. Cut about a half hour of the weaker action and find a way to muzzle the man behind the camera and his movie would be at least a grade and a half higher.
