At first glance, this is the sort of movie that could easily be a pretentious nightmare. It has a distinct style, a nod towards alt-porn and a glowing recommendation from a prominent porn figure on the box cover. It has a cast of women that is packed with alt-porn stars and a director with a name that just makes your eyes roll. Yes, this could easily be the sort of movie that I despise from the word go. With all that working against it, how come the score is so high? Because this movie is really fucking good. It is moody, edgy, dirty, gritty and hot. We’ve seen the “I’m a whore treat me like shit” thing played out several times before and yet this one works really well. It is a loosely strung together series of vignettes with the same theme. All women apparently whores at heart and they like being fucked hard, treated like shit and left feeling degraded and fulfilled all at the same time. It would be one thing for me to love this movie if I really dug the cast. But I don’t. I do love Bobbi Starr. She is always fun to watch, but the rest of the cast doesn’t usually do much for me. That makes this movie all the more amazing to me. Anyone can make a movie worth jerking off to if they pack it with your favorites. But when someone makes a movie starring girls I normally pass on that keeps me interested from start to finish and turned on for most of that time, well that’s something. Bobbi opens the movie with probably the best scene. It’s really well set up and the gritty nature enhances rather than getting in the way of the action. That is the strength of this movie. No matter how hard they try, most alt-porn makers can’t get out of their way long enough to actually produce anything that anyone would want to stroke to. This movie, alt or not (you decide) is ultimately a great stroke fest for true perverts. Leighlani and Jon Jon turn a simple interracial fuck into something dirty, fun and ultimately hot. I didn’t quite dig the Lorelei Lei scene as much as the rest, but your mileage will vary greatly since she hits home better for many of you. Madison’s scene with Harry wasn’t my favorite, but the dirty whore angle really works so check it out. And of course Adrianna Nicole’s turn as a naughty cheerleader won me over pretty well. I am truly impressed by this effort. It is a dark, dirty, filthy movie with women who play the part well. It has some interesting and often brilliant camerawork and editing. It is edgy without losing sight of the fact that it is a stroke flick. For all these reasons and a few that you will have to work out for yourselves, I would put The Whore Within Me right up there with the best releases of 2008.
