This is the granddaddy of them all, the big cheese, THE adult movie to end all movies. Actually it is more like the adult movie to begin all movies, but that isn’t a cliché now is it. This is the remastered version by VCX presented in widescreen with a ton of bonus material so it really is the best possible Deep Throat DVD experience. That is really what this is. It’s an experience. Deep Throat can’t stand up to the best sexual features of today in terms of technical quality or sexual heat. It isn’t a raincoater movie for sure. What it is, is a classic, pure and simple. It is funnier than I remember and this version has pretty decent picture quality. I liked watching it a lot more than I remembered and it is very easy to see why this was a classic. It’s cute, fantasy driven and a true piece of adult history. If you have never seen this movie, this is a great version to buy. It looks great, has four bonus scenes and two digital versions of adult classics thrown in for good measure. Deep Throat is a must-own title for any adult film collection and it’s a must-see movie if for no other reason to say you saw the movie that, for all intents and purposes, started it all.
The movie begins like your typical mainstream B movie with Linda driving home against a generic backdrop. When you compare this title sequence to what most adult movies offer now it is quite striking. What, no cumshot recap as the credits roll? Maybe I’m feeling nostalgic, but the thought of five minutes of Hillary Scott driving in her car makes me wonder if raincoaters would start rioting in the streets. Our first hint that this is an adult movie comes when Linda arrives at home to find the grocery delivery boy with his head buried between Dolly Sharp’s thighs. We don’t’ see anything, but she gives her classic line, “Mind if I smoke while you’re eating.” The remainder of the scene does offer some hard core licking of her meaty, furry box and music that can only be described as perfectly dated.
Linda isn’t happy with her life. She is looking for something more. Maybe not a white picket fence and a dog, but something nonetheless. As her friend digs deeper we find out that poor Linda has never gotten off. No matter what she tries, she just can’t get what she needs from sex. No worries. Dolly sets Linda up with literally a line of men waiting to see what they can give her. The first guy fucks her and cums on her back. The scene is choppy, as sexually hot as a bag full of Rosie O’Donnell’s liposuction leftovers and is set to music that make the dated stuff we saw before feel like a welcome relief. Making things worse, we cut this action with Dolly in another room working with two guys at once. They keep trying, but nothing works for Linda.
The best part of the movie comes when Linda goes to see a doctor played hysterically by Harry Reems, about her issues. The dialog is totally cheesy, ridiculous in every sense of the word and yet totally wonderful. It’s amusing and silly in the best sense of the words. Eventually he figures out that her clitoris isn’t where it is supposed to be. Instead it is buried at the back of her throat. The only solution of course is deep throat. Linda must take a cock all the way to the back of her throat if she wants to get off properly. The oral footage is actually quite hot and Linda doesn’t cheat on the throat. Her lips hit the base of his cock and she finally gets the sort of bells and whistles she has been searching for. Linda finishes him off with a big smile on her face.
As she pleads with him to marry her I am actually struck by the portrait in the background. It looks an awful lot like the one they did of Kramer in Seinfeld. Now I wonder if that whole thing was a subtle nod to Deep Throat. Hmmm. The doctor hires Linda as a nurse and sends her out on a house call. She gives a short fuck to an old dude while in her nurse uniform. This is a pretty standard scene until he shoves a shot glass into her shaved pussy and then uses a straw to drink from the glass. Odd, yes. Hot, ehhhh not so much, but your mileage may vary.
As this and the next Linda scene progress, we cut away to Harry fucking his lovely nurse Carol Connors. There is also footage of Linda carrying for a sick Harry that looks out of place because it was apparently pulled from another movie. There are some decent shots in here as Linda sucks and Carol shows off a very impressive set of tits. But in no way is this strokeable footage. It’s kind of a montage of stuff that ends with some good Harry and Linda footage.
The final scene has Linda shaving and playing with herself while a masked man watches. He tries to rape her, but she just can’t play scared so they decide to get it on the old fashioned way. He professes his love for her, but Linda needs a nine inch cock. He tells her over and over that he is “only four inches away from happiness.” Yes, there is a dick reduction joke coming, wait for it, wait for it. Apparently he has just what she needs so Linda sucks down that dick until her rockets go off and everyone is happy.
