This is another classic that I reviewed on VHS and am giving a second chance thanks to a project I’m working on. It is part of the essential porn library of course and an important work. I was watching very closely this time because I have had a number of conversations with people who really believe that I short change the classics. DMJ is great moving in one regard. It is an interesting psychological study and a rather deep concept. The plot is thin, but the idea is great. Of course that doesn’t help the movie sexually. This is still thin on strokeable sex and serves as a wonderful reminder that sex scenes are just shot better these days. The DVD transfer is good and DMJ is still a must see for fans of classic porn. Watch it and enjoy the way it makes you think, but keep a copy of Fashionitas close by to finish the job.
After the disturbing opening scene of Miss Jones begging to be touched and fucked, it would be hard to imagine that the movie gets even creepier. Chronic masturbation in an asylum is a good way to shock an audience, but suicide by razor ramps things up a bit. The blood is disturbing, but it gets us where we need to go. The dialog that follows is really quite good. We discover that Miss Jones is dead and has been deemed unworthy of Heaven because of her suicide. She has led a pure life and can’t understand. Given the chance to do it all over again what would she do to earn her trip to everlasting damnation? Lust of course. She would lead a life of lust. As set ups for porn flicks go, this really is one of the more intellectual and interesting plots.
Miss Jones meets her teacher, played by Harry Reems. After just watching Harry in Deep Throat, it is interesting to not the difference in his performances. He is menacing and in command here as he examines her body, bends her over and penetrates her ass with a plug. Harry makes her wait and even beg for a taste of his cock. The pace and feel of the scene is sexier than the actual action. There is something to be said about the classics were made. Perhaps the instant gratification mindset does take away from the heat. (Still, imagine this was Bree Olson begging and finally sucking cock and that the cameras were in better position to capture the action.) She talks to his cock, whispering desperately as it grows in her mouth to full attention. He is about to take her virginity and even though it will hurt she begs for it. She screams on the first thrust and then gets down to business. They do a little anal as well, but the end of this scene is chopped to hell and a perfect example of what we would never see today. What started out hot ends up a mess.
There is a girl on girl encounter that I don’t remember from the VHS version I saw years ago. Justine is rubbed with oil, kissed and caressed gently. I am pretty sure this was cut out of the version I saw though I can’t imagine why. We cut now to Justine in the tub washing herself and eventually shoving a rubber tube into her holes. Once cleaned up she is giving intense oral instruction from Harry who teaches her the finer points of being a good mouth slut. There is finally a cumshot at the end of this scene. Miss Jones is learning to live her lusty life to the fullest. I before I watch this scene and remember Georgina in Police Academy and have to smile.
Even eating now takes on an erotic tone as Justine lies naked in bed eating an apple, playing with grapes and eventually finding a banana to soothe her burning lust. The sensuality here is quite good and one has to wonder if 9 1/2 Weeks would look the same without this little drip down the produce aisle. From fruit to a snake we are just dripping symbolism here as Justine lets the reptile make its way up her body and eventually sucks the head for a bit.
Justine really wants to stay on earth and live out her originally allotted time as a slut. Though her request seems to be falling on deaf ears, she gets to share a cock with another woman. There is a brief double BJ followed by some furry pussy stuffing. There isn’t really much here of note until the cumshot. The girls do a little swapping and that is certainly well ahead of its time. We jump immediately to Justine taking on two guys as her slutty behavior intensifies. Is all of this enough to win her a second chance at a life of debauchery?
We have come full circle and Justine is back in her cell with Damiano as the babbling lunatic talking about imaginary rats and roaches. The ending really does complete the story nicely. It still looks dated and silly, but it’s also scary in its own way. Miss Jones has found what she wants, learned what she craves and must spend an eternity with it just out of reach. That’s deep shit man, especially for a porno flick.
