STEELE ANNOUNCES COLLECTOR’S EDITIONS OF BLACK REIGN 1, TOP GUNS 1
CANOGA PARK, Calif. — Though the titles are familiar to fans of Mercenary Pictures, company owner Lexington Steele promises the company’s latest releases aren’t just retreads of familiar scenes.
Featuring classics from the Mercenary library that shaped the direction of the company’s productions, Top Guns 1 and Black Reign 1 will be re-released as a collector’s edition: reedited with expanded bonus material and more sex scenes.
“I like to think we’ve ‘Magnum-ized’ Top Guns 1 and Black Reign 1,” Steele said. “We’ll be giving this treatment to Mercenary’s releases from 2003. They’re going to be something collectors of adult will want because they’ve been redone, from the ground up, from the original masters. They’ve been totally revamped. We’ve included, minimally, five new scenes with each title, bringing the running time to over three hours for 11 scenes, and added to the behind-the-scene footage, shot by my assistant and IronHead director Tina Tyler, because it’s that good.”
Black Reign 1, the first of Mercenary’s Collector’s Editions, is in stores now. Top Guns 1 will be released on April 7.
Steele said there was much demand to bringing back the Top Guns and prompted the release of Top Guns 2. Steele sees similar success with the collector’s edition, which includes the previously unreleased footage, of the first volume.
“The collector’s edition of Top Guns 1 is simply better,” Steele said.
“These are titles that are very close to me as they began my path of ownership,” he added. “These collector’s editions will include all my productions from the recent past, which serve to complete the Mercenary catalog, and I will deliver these collector’s editions above and beyond their previous editions. They will be DVD-only, allowing me to increase the amount of new footage and bonus material. I am happy to re-release these titles, that I own, in keeping with the caliber of Mercenary’s productions since I began distributing my product independently. Any buyers not carrying the collector’s editions would be doing a disservice to their customers.”
