Pipedream Products Wins Bronze Award For Packaging From NACD!
April 26th, 2005 (Chatsworth, CA): Most sex toy companies aren’t usually recognized for what holds the product they manufacture, let alone winning awards for it. But Pipedream Products is pleased to announce that, for the third year in a row, the adult toy and novelties company has won an award for their packaging from the National Association of Container Distributors. This time they took home the Bronze for the packaging of their Try Pleasure Sampler!
“We’re very pleased with the recognition,” says Nick Orlandino, COO of Pipedream Products. “While we put a lot of thought and effort into the products that we make, that’s only one part of the process. So to be acknowledged for another part of it, especially for the third year in a row, is extremely gratifying.”
Over the previous two years, Pipedream was able to capture the Silver and Gold awards for their On-The-Go Keychains and Sinful Sensations Warming Lotions respectively, marking the first time an adult novelties company has won three consecutive times, not to mention the only time an adult company has won in that category. Alan Rothstein, the NACD Awards Program Chairman, isn’t surprised that the company took home an award for the third year in a row.
“With the Try Pleasure Sampler, five custom tools were manufactured for the price of two. The integrity of the package design showcased the entire product line,” says Rothstein. “The judges were very experienced and qualified ” one is the Editor-in-chief of one of the foremost packaging magazines, another is a VP of a national packaging organization, and the third is a retired VP of packaging who has worked with several high profile cosmetic companies.”
Is Rothstein surprised that an adult novelty company has won so many times?
“Considering the quality of the judges, I think that good packaging is good packaging, regardless of the category of its contents,” he says. “I’m sure that it helps if the products are presented in good taste. As you know, some of the products in the adult field can sometimes push the limit.”
The NACD celebrated its 80th anniversary this year. The NACD Awards black tie dinner and dance is always the highlight of the National Convention, which took place at the Torrey Pines Hilton in La Jolla, CA and was attended by over 300 people this year. The Awards consist of seven categories: Cosmetic & Personal Care, Drug & Pharmaceutical, General Industrial & Automotive, Household & Chemical, Food, Novelty and Pet & Vet. In addition, individual awards are given to “Best Creative Use of Stock Components” and “Best of Show.” This year there were over 110 entries utilizing 350 to 400 packages submitted by the NACD Distributor Members.
