XRentDVD eBay Auction to Benefit Free Speech Coalition
SANTA ANA, Calif. ” XRentDVD.com, a leading adult DVD rental and sales web site, is auctioning an autographed poster on eBay signed by adult film stars Carmen Luvana, Ashley Blue and Austin Kincaid. The proceeds from this auction will benefit the Free Speech Coalition (FSC) to help in the fight against the record-keeping and labeling law, 18 U.S.C. 2257. The poster was displayed in the XRentDVD.com booth at Erotica LA to alert fans to the times and days the porn stars were expected to sign autographs. The initial asking price started at $0.99 and the auction will close on July 16 at 11:17 am pacific time.
“Before the girls even signed the posters, a lot of the fans at Erotica LA asked us what we were going to do with them after the show,” said Vincent Sorvino, General Manager of XRentDVD. “We are keeping one for the office but the other one is available for auction on eBay to benefit the FSC. Judging from the lines we had at our booth and the popularity of these girls, this poster should get quite a few bids.”
“We can’t thank XRentDVD enough for coming up with such a creative way to raise money to support the legal challenge to the 2257 regulations,” said Michelle Freridge, Executive Director of The Free Speech Coalition. “We hope a big fan of all three stars eventually gets the poster, and that he or she realizes how valuable a contribution they will have made. It’s also great to see a company like XRentDVD express through action its commitment to this trade organization and to the future of the entire adult entertainment industry. Kudos to them.”
XRentDVD became a member of the Free Speech Coalition prior to the June 23 hearing that eventually produced a temporary restraining order. The temporary restraining order will keep FSC members free from inspections and prosecution under the record-keeping and labeling law, until September 7, 2005. All proceeds generated from the sale of this autographed poster will be donated to the Free Speech Coalition’s 2257 Litigation Fund. XRentDVD will make a matching contribution, up to $500, to the Free Speech Coalition.
“The Free Speech Coalition is one of the biggest defenders of the adult industry,” Sorvino said. “Fighting the 18 U.S.C. 2257 law is not just the adult industry’s problem. I highly encourage anyone, not just those working within the adult industry, but anyone that values their first amendment rights to become a member of the Free Speech Coalition.”
