I can see by the long shadows across my floor at nearly eight o’clock in the evening that it’s summer time. OK, I didn’t really need the shadows. It’s ninety five degrees in my office right now if that don’t mean summer’s here then I must be living in the Sahara. The dead of summer means that it’s time for Erotica LA and VSDA. Two porn gatherings in two weeks? It’s a good thing silicone doesn’t explode when it spends too much time in close proximity with Viagra. That could make a mess from LA all the way to Vegas.
The Erotica LA show was a huge hit with the thousands of fans who paid 30 bucks a day to rub elbows with their favorite adult stars. As usual, the floor was mix of production companies, web sites, clothing companies and other adult related products. On a personal note I was thrilled to meet Lindsay Dawn McKenzie in person for the first time. She’s a busty British model who has dabbled in hardcore a few times. Hopefully she will be doing more of that now that she has her own production company.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the FAME Awards. The fan-based polls generated thousands of votes and the competition culminated in a star-studded awards show during Erotica LA. Superstar Jenna Jameson walked away with the awards for Favorite Female Actress and Hottest Body. Jules Jordan was named Favorite Director, Pirates was chosen as the Favorite Feature Movie and Taryn Thomas was awarded the title of Dirtiest Girl in Porn. Congratulations to the winners and the organizers of the FAME Awards. Let’s hope that the momentum continues as we get geared up for the Rog Reviews Fan Faves Awards.
In addition to winning awards and co-hosting the Erotica LA show, Jenna has a big business announcement. Playboy has acquired Club Jenna in a deal that may be a portent to other hardcore additions to the publishing giant’s portfolio. The deal does not change Club Jenna’s distribution deal with Vivid. What it essential does is make Club Jenna product available to Playboy for use on their web sites and on their television networks. I would venture to guess that it may also show up as part of Playboy’s pay per view catalog in hotels world wide. Either way it is a big deal for Jenna as she continues her attempt to one day rule the entire world.
The Shane’s World crew celebrated their tenth anniversary with a star-studded party in Beverly Hills last month. They pulled out all of the stops during the big event and used the occasion to unveil their new contract girl, Casey Parker. The beautiful blonde Colorado coed has already starred in one College Invasion movie and will become the face of Shane’s World for the next few years. One look at this sexy babe and you can see that she is the perfect mix of girl next door and sexy siren. It should be a perfect fit and we can look forward to some great things from Casey with Shane’s World.
As Casey joins the team at Shane’s World, they have parted way with Devinn Lane. The former Wicked contract star had been making movies for Shane’s World and was in the middle of her contract. Citing personal differences and a desire to move in different directions Shane’s World let Devinn go. She will take her skills elsewhere and apparently will continue on with the strap-on action she was shooting for Shane’s World.
Another former contract girl is back in the news, but not for the usual reasons. Jewel De’Nyle tore up the porn world for years as one the biggest stars in the business. She moved behind the camera and retired from performing a few years back. We now have a new De’Nyle to enjoy. No, Jewel isn’t back, but her mother has decided to give porn a try. No word yet as to whether Jewel will shoot her mom in a movie, but I already heard from one of Jewel’s former employers and they are dying to get their hands on dear old mom. Stay tuned, that could be really interesting.
Tom Zupko is back at Extreme and he is already ramping up the PR machine for his first project. He is working adult movie legend Lisa Ann on one of her early comeback projects. In typical Zupko fashion, the movie will be called “Lisa Ann Defiled” and should feature the busty brunette doing things we haven’t seen before. She is already under contract to give someone else her first anal scene, so Zupko will have to wrack his warped mind to come up with other ways to defile the former contract starlet. Somehow I think he will be able to raise a few eyebrows as Lisa stiffens a few cocks.
Before we get to the Top 20 List, I have some sad news to pass along. Last month adult superstar Asia Carrera lost her husband in a car accident. The couple has a young daughter and Asia is currently pregnant with their second child. She is obviously heartbroken and scared so I am sure that I speak for everyone in extending our best wishes and prayers for her entire family. I welcome the feedback guys (and girls) but keep a few things in mind. These are MY picks, my favorites and that’s all it is. These are not the women I think are the biggest stars, or even perhaps the “best” performers. It has been suggested by a good friend that this should be called “20 Girls Rog Wants to Bone” and I’m really OK with that. It was also suggested to me that I should call it “20 MORE Girls Rog Won’t Ever Bone” and while that is sadly true, that just depresses me to no end.
This list covers the last 12 months and the number of movies a star performs in does factor in. (Jenna Haze for example had only one movie so she didn’t make it higher.) It also keeps some of the brand spanking new girls out of the mix a bit. Hopefully I remembered everyone, but I am sure that someone will come up with a name that smacks me right in the ahead. Go ahead, throw them out there.
