VAN NUYS, CA – Freshman studio Adonis Pictures, which just celebrated its one-year anniversary, received eight nominations at the 2006 GayVN Awards.
“I’m thrilled that we got so many nominations because I know what a difficult year this was!” Adonis vice-president Jeremy Spencer said. “No one – with the exception of Doug Lawrence at AVN – knows how hard those judges work more than I do.” Spencer is referring to his four-year stint as the gay/bi managing editor at AVN, where he helped run the GayVN show. “There was so much amazing work done from so many people this year that I’m just so excited to be included with such incredible talent – people I have respected and admired for as long as I’ve been interested in porn.”
Adonis’ first release, Running Wild, directed by Michael Zen, earned Brad Benton & Bobby Williams a Best Sex Scene (Duo) nod while Zen’s second feature, the vampire tale Thirst, received seven nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Rod Barry (who plays dual roles as the sadistic mad doctor and his twin vampire brother), Best Director (Zen), Best Videography (Ross Cannon), Best Oral Scene (Nino Bacci and a strait-jacketed/blindfolded Andy Kirra), Best Packaging and a nod to Adonis Exclusive Kirra for Best Newcomer.
“For us being the new kids on the block,” Spencer continued, “I’m glad we got invited to the party!”
