Reader Email: The State of Porn

I just got home from AEE in Vegas and found this email from a reader who calls himself “The King.” How could I possibly resist anyone with a moniker like that? Besides, his questions were interesting and I hope my answers inspire some good conversation.

Hello and good day, afternoon and goodnight Mr. Rog. Have some questions if you have the time to answer.

1. Everyone is always putting a list together or naming there top ten but I was wondering what your Mount Rushmore is of the greatest porn stars of all time.

Great question. I would say that it would depend on the criteria. There are plenty of ways to go.

If we are talking about the four biggest, most influential names in porn it would be:

Marilyn Chambers, Ginger Lynn, Jenna Jameson and John Holmes

I don’t think there is much debate here. These four are the biggest stars we have ever had in our industry. Marilyn was the first real porn star. Ginger ushered in the video age. Jenna is by far the biggest superstar ever in our business. And Holmes is transcendent in a way no other male performer ever has been. His name is synonymous with cock size and is part of the pop culture lexicon.

If we are just talking favorite females, my own personal all-time it would be:

Christy Canyon, Kaitlyn Ashley, Aurora Snow and Asa Akira

I have had several favorite stars over the years, but these four women for me are the ones who stand out. Christy was the first porn star I ever watched and I watched her over and over for the first several years I could. Kaitlyn was my favorite star when I started reviewing and I was always pleased to hear how many other fans loved her work. The same was true of Aurora. Over the years, people have shared stories of how they found her work after reading my enthusiastic reviews. I am always happy to hear that. And Asa is the current leader of the pack. She has put together two of the most incredible years in recent memory and should have a lot more hardware to show for it.

a. and what are your top 4 movies that every fan of porn should have in there collection.

For features it would be Face Dance, The Chameleon, Masseuse 3 and Pirates

I honestly don’t think most people realize how fucking good Face Dace is. To me it is John Stagliano’s very best and that’s saying a lot. Chameleon is totally hot, John Leslie at his best. Masseuse 3 (edged out Bad Wives) was great story telling and sex. And of course Pirates is one of the most fun adult films ever made.

Gonzo would be tougher, but I know that Sodomania 6, Up Your Ass 18, Cumback Pussy 6, Flesh Hunter 7 and Invasian 4: Asa Akira Spectacular would make one hell of a fine collection.

2. im a fan of the girl Princess(dark haired, light skinned, she might be latin or white) and wonder what her real name is.

I’m not sure which girl you mean. You might try FreeOnes.com to find other names she used and then check out IAFD.com to see everything she has done.

3. I see that the industry is pushing parody movies alot these days – so what porn parody would you like to see made?

I would love to see them make “Modern Family” because it could be funny and sexy. Also “Storage Wars” just because that Brandi girl is smoking hot. Or “Parking Wars” because the uniform sex would be hot.

For movies, I would love to see them do “Bring it On” for obvious reasons and “Last Action Here” because I wrote a great script for that one. Now I just need to find someone to shoot it.

4. Whos the better ass shaker….Alexis Texas or rachael star?

Good question. I’m going to go with Alexis Texas, but now I’m going to have watch some more Rachael Star just to double check.
