RENOWNED ADULT FILM DIRECTOR CANDIDA ROYALLE GROOMS THE NEXT GENERATION OF FEMALE EROTICA DIRECTORS AS SHE COMPLETES HER LATEST PRODUCTION
NY, NY Renowned adult film director Candida Royalle has completed production on yet another of her sought after erotic movies told from a female perspective. A comedy set in her home town of New York City, UNDER THE COVERS features a cast made up of new faces from New York and a number of stars flown in from L.A.
Candida partnered up with Jamye Waxman on this production, who co-wrote and produced alongside Royalle. Waxman, formerly a radio and TV producer for the Joan Rivers Show, the Alan Colmes Show and Lovebytes with Bob Berkowitz, is a columnist for PLAYGIRL, STEPPIN’ OUT and The Philly Edge, and is completing her masters degree in sex education at Widener University. She also serves as President of Feminists for Free Expression.
Royalle’s collaboration with Waxman is the first of what she has long intended to do with her production company: groom young female directors to create female driven adult erotica for Femme Productions. Waxman is already working on the script for her directorial debut.
UNDER THE COVERS is a co-production between Royalle’s Femme Productions and Adam & Eve Productions and is scheduled for a September ’06 release. It will be widely available in video stores and at websites that cater especially to women and couples.
At the same time Royalle is executive producing DARE, the first URBAN HIP HOP EROTIC ADULT MOVIE for the hungry and untapped market of ethnic women and couples. It will be written and directed by film- maker Abiola Abrams, a former host of HBO’s CHAT ZONE and syndicated NBC hip hop news show, THE SOURCE:ALL ACCESS. Abrams has produced and directed a number of award-winning art films and been written up in publications ranging from Ms. to COSMO. Abrams will also be writing be an accompanying novel by the same name. Furthermore, a music compilation CD of music by the stars of DARE will be distributed with the movie. Release is set for early 2007.
Royalle is the author of HOW TO TELL A NAKED MAN WHAT TO DO, Simon & Schuster/Fireside (hardcover released in October 2004) which was re-issued in paperback in February 2006. Royalle also continues to develop new products for her NATURAL CONTOURS line of chic personal massagers and products for women. She is a sought after spokesperson and public speaker on issues of sexuality, eroticism and free speech, and will be speaking on a panel along with Jamye Waxman and Abiola Abrams at the New School on April 28th.
