Shy Love, ‘El Gordo y la Flaca XXX’ Nominated for 2013 XBIZ Awards
Love Gets Directing Nomination, Production Gets Parody, Latin-Theme Nods
CANOGA PARK, Calif. — Performer-turned-talent-representative Shy Love has added award-nominated director to her list of accolades, with a nomination for the Spanish-language DVD “El Gordo y la Flaca XXX” at the 2013 XBIZ Awards. The awards are scheduled to take place January 11, 2013 in Los Angeles.
The DVD received five nominations: Besides Love’s nomination for Director of the Year — Parody, the production was nominated for Latin-Themed Release of the Year; Parody Release of the Year — Comedy; Best Non-Sex Acting Performance for Anthony De Los Santos; and Marketing Campaign of the Year.
“This is a great honor,” Love said. “We had great fun making it, and it looks like that came across. Thanks to XBIZ for the recognition.”
“El Gordo y la Flaca” is based on a Spanish-language TV show that is shot in Miami and broadcast throughout the U.S., Mexico and South America. Unlike the usual disdain mainstream has for adult-industry parodies of their work, the “El Gordo y la Flaca” people officially embraced the parody, mentioning the production while it was shooting and inviting performers from the video to appear on the show.
“I’m looking forward to the awards,” Love said. “It’ll be good to see my friends and colleagues, and I may just get something to put on the mantle when I get home.”
Love started in the adult industry as a performer in 2003, and has appeared in more than 350 titles. She has directed almost 20 titles, including all-sex and plot-driven productions. She founded her representation company, Adult Talent Managers, in 2006.
The 2013 XBIZ Awards will take place January 11, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. For more information about the 2013 XBIZ Awards, visit www.XBIZAwards.com .
