In a porn world littered with parodies of everything from reality TV shows to commercials, there is a commonly heard belief that the XXX feature is dead. Wasteland is proof positive that the demise of the porn feature is at least somewhat exaggerated. As he did with “Portrait of a Call Girl” director Graham Travis paints a beautiful picture that serves a perfect backdrop a film that is as psychologically engrossing as it is arousing. (In some cases even more so.) It is unlike any other adult feature I watched in 2012 and it has to be a front runner for every award we have to offer. The feature version of this movie features truncated sex scenes to keep the running time down to under two hours. Disc two features full version of the sex scenes. They are excellent by the way. I honestly think that the full versions of the scenes would have made this a perfect movie. A super fucking long movie, but perfect nonetheless. Since the scenes are shorter in the feature, watch it this way and go back later for the sex scenes you like. Both Lily C and Lily L are excellent. It will likely be Lily Carter who walks away with a Best Actress trophy or two, but everyone in this movie is outstanding. The script is a sure winner with great characters, interesting dialog and emotional depth that you just don’t see in adult. This looks a lot like a late night cable movie, but the script is too good for the usual Skinamax stuff. If you are looking for an incredibly high quality adult feature with a well acted, deep and moving story then Wasteland is the movie you have been waiting for.
