Deep Throat Competition for Mika? Anti-Lockwood Bias?
Still Sick: Yes, I’m still sick as a dog, but fuck it. I need to write. Too much is going on for me to just sit here in bed hacking crap up. Yeah, yeah, now I can hack crap up onto the page..funny. Hopefully I can come up with something good to write about since I should probably be sleeping.

Anna: I was going to write more about Anna Nicole, but I think the media has burned that story totally to the ground. The other night, our local news ran 13 minutes of stories about her death at the top of the newscast. That’s five minutes longer than they ran for Gerald Ford. Deep Throat Challenge: Last week, after reviewing Van Styles’ Take it Black 5, I threw out the idea Mika Tan might be the single best deep throat artist in porn today. So far not many people have written in with any names to challenge. I came up with one about the same time Blue Lou chimed in on the Forum Thread. We both agree that Annette Schwarz may give Mika a run for her money. I reviewed Annette in Mike John’s Elastic Assholes 5 last week. Annette deep throats Steve Holmes sizable pole and gets his balls into her mouth at the same time. That’s pretty damn impressive. So that gives us two. Does anyone have any other hot deep throat artists would should be considered?

More on the Lockwood Meltdown: I’m going to be careful not to step into this too strongly, but Kurt’s rant got me thinking. He said that the review was colored with an “Anti-Lockwood” bias. I read the review three times and for the life of me can’t figure out what Kurt’s talking about. Astro was very thorough and quite specific in his (gentle imho) criticisms of “L.A. Vice.” Most of them had to do with the camerawork and editing. How is that an example of “anti-Lockwood” anything? Sounds to me like it was an anti-bad camerawork slant to me. Of course angry tirades against reviewers speaking their mind could perhaps make Kurt’s rant a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Judging from the reaction to the thread over on AdultDVDTalk.com I would say that Kurt has lost himself some fans and some business with his little tirade.
Since Kurt brought it up though, let’s examine the idea of an anti-anymeatpuppet bias. There has always been an interesting relationship between the male porn performer and the porn fan/critic/fan-critic. To call it a love-hate relationship would too simple. The role of the male porn perform is that of surrogate. He is to vicariously live out the sexual fantasies of the predominantly male audience. Without delving too deeply into the psychology of that relationship, one can easily see how this becomes complicated. Kurt through out some fairly typical jabs, mentioning “jealousy” and telling Astro that he “jerks off to porn for free” with utter contempt. Without applying these insults to this specific situation (Only Astro can say for sure if he is jealous and frankly I would wager that it wasn’t jealousy that caused him to dislike the camerawork and editing problems in the project.) this a common reaction by male talent when confronted with critical fans or less than fawning critics. On some level we have to accept that jealously should be part of the fan/star relationship. After all, his job is live out our fantasies vicariously. If we aren’t at least a little bit envious, then what’s the point? One the other hand, Kurt throws out that “you jerk off” thing with such contempt that we can’t help but miss the irony. Just as the porn fan can’t live out his fantasies without the male talent, the male talent owes his very existence to the guys at home jerking off. Contempt for them is utterly childish. Like it or not, the male porn performer isn’t an artist, he’s an instrument and a means to an end. I don’t mean that to belittle Lockwood or anyone else. Theirs is not an easy job. We don’t have porn without them, but they don’t have a job without the very people Kurt (and so many others over the years) throw insults at.
There is a lot more that needs to be said on this topic, but let’s call it day. It’s time for the next batch of meds. Before that, how about a preview of the stuff I’m reviewing for tomorrow.
