You Really Do Learn Something New Every Day

Learning New ThingsIt is true what they say; you really do learn something new every day. Today I was driving Mrs. Rog to work. As we passed through Downey I noticed that there were six motels on a single block. While wondering out loud about the sort of patrons who might frequent this collection of dives I asked “who comes to Downey to vacation? What is there to see here?” Well folks, as Mrs. Rog explained to me, The Carpenters are from Downey. I certainly didn’t know that, but that’s not all. They own (or perhaps owned) a pair of apartment buildings in town. Care to guess what they’re called? Oh this good folks. One is called “Close to You” and the other is called “We’ve Only Just Begun.” Wow, I wouldn’t have guessed that was a true story in a million years. File that under useless information and remember folks, you can learn something new every day.

Happy Trails Mate: It’s been exactly a year since Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin died. Hearing that news today made me a little sad. It was such a shock to hear that he had passed and I honestly think he was one celebrity who was worth the listening to. I’m not generally one who thinks we should follow what some of these empty-heads have to say, but Steve’s passion for what he cared deeply for was as admirable as he was entertaining. If you feel like making a donation to his foundation you can do so here. Rest in peace Crocodile Hunter. The world is a little duller since you left it.

Toni James Situation: Yesterday I answered some reader email about the story about Toni James and her post-porn career. Today Luke Ford has a follow up. Apparently Toni has not responded to his interview requests, has pulled her web site and seems less than pleased by the attention. According to a nasty email Luke published, Toni is trying to hide it and keeps mentioning “local” reporting of the event to back up the claims. I don’t know how much we stock we should put in the long, mean-spirited diatribe. After all, the poster can’t even grasp that being opposed to something you did a decade ago doesn’t automatically make one a hypocrite. If this woman wants to have a life that is separate from porn, good for her. If she now finds pornography to be offensive, immoral or just downright nasty, more power to her. I happen to disagree, but so what? If she is wants to be left alone and not talk about a chapter in her life that is really no one’s business, why attack her? Why bring it up and do something that will hurt her now? (We can discuss the fact that anyone who would choose NOT to use her as a real estate agent just because she used to fuck on camera likely a narrow minded idiot at another time.) This idea that we need to hunt down women and make them pay for their past is sad. It’s also a little pathetic. Can’t we just let people who want to be left alone have the life they want? Sorry, I just don’t get it.

Eye Candy: I know you guys keep waiting for me to drop a Toni James gallery in here. Not gonna do it. Instead I’m going to show you Kat Young who is so hot that I’d buy a house from her. Actually I’d like to buy the house next to hers.
