Debbie Day
Two Debbie Movies in One Day, Fun
Now that the AVN voting is over (and trust me folks, it is a lot of work) I can finally get back to a full speed review schedule. Today I’m going to take a look at the dueling Debbie movies from Vivid and Vivid-alt. It should be very interesting.
Vivid‘s Debbie Does Dallas Again is a three disc-set directed by Paul Thomas. It comes with the original Debbie from VCX as a bonus disc. It stars most of the Vivid girls, Stefani Morgan, Monique Alexander, Savana Samon, Lacie Heart, Cassidey and others as well as Hillary Scott, Courtney Simpson and Penny Flame. Pretty good cast on this one. The packaging is nice, with a dual fold out design and the usual Vivid art work.
Debbie Loves Dallas (Or D<3 D) is Vivid-alt's answer to the porn franchise. It is directed by the king of the alt movement, Eon McKai and stars the usual cast of characters. Dana DeArmond, Charlotte Stokely, Pixie Pearl, Tommy Pistol and James Deen are joined by Monique Alexander and Cassidey. (Who are in both movies so that should be fun.) This is also a 3 disc set with very slick packaging. It's a single fold with a CD of music by "Dallas" (The fictitious band from the movie) tucked into the left side of the cover. On the right side is a really nicely done flip case that holds the movie and a DVD full of extras.
If I’m scoring this like a fight I would say it is close so far.
Round 1: Director Slight edge to DDD over DLD. Thomas is a heavyweight and a legend. Eon is fast rising, but not quite PT just yet.
Round 2: Cast Slight edge to DDD, but only thanks to the non-contract stars. I still think I’d take Dana and Charlotte over Stefani and Savana., but when you factor in Hillary Scott and Courtney Simpson you have a deeper cast than DLD.
Round 3: Packaging. Considerable edge to DLD. The single fold and stacked right side make for a clean design. I also really like the box for DLD. DDD looks like every other Vivid cheerleader movie. (Not that it’s a bad thing.)
Round 4: Extra disc. Since I haven’t seen the movies yet I can’t judge what is on disc two, but we know what we get from disc three. I’m going to call this one a draw. Getting a free classic movie is always a plus, but for its intended audience, DLD’s inclusion of the music is probably just as big a plus. If you’re a porn hound, you’ll lean towards the classic DVD. If you’re an alt-porn hound you can listen to the soothing sounds of Dallas over and over.
Stay tuned for the two reviews….and feel free to through your own comments in.
