2008 AEE Report: Notes Part 2
Notes from the Floor & Other Stuff
This was my 20th AEE/CES. It’s hard for me to believe that a full two decades have passed since I went to my very first adult show. So much has happened since then, both in the business and out of it. As I have for the better part of the last 12 years, I’m going to write up my time on the floor in a series of posts scheduled for this week. First I’ll just throw out the notes from my scorecard. If you read one that interests you, shoot me an email and I’ll be sure to elaborate. With all the pictures, outside reports (From Savana) and interviews, I may not get to all of the notes in full detail, but I’ll focus on what you guys want to read.
Notes From the Floor: 2008 Part 2
-I got to finally meet two people this year who I have talked to on line for a while. Toy reviewers Savana Switzer and AINews columnist (and hottie) Rebecca Anderson. Both of them are lovely young women who happen to be talented writers as well. I didn’t have as much time as I would like with Rebecca, but we’ve got some things in the works that should be fun.
– Savana had tons of fun on the floor. It was her first show and I threw her right into the fire. She got interview her biggest porn crush, Aurora Snow (Look for that interview within days.) as well as take on three new girls. Sorry, INTERVIEW three new girls. How many girls she took on during the show is sadly not something I know first hand.
– According to several people I spoke with, the adult industry has done a 180 on HD-DVD and most now see it as a dead in the water format. Blu-Ray is apparently the wave of the future. It is just a matter of when, not if, it takes over. That means I will be grabbing a Blu-Ray machine soon, but in the meantime I am still reviewing HD-DVDs as well as standard.
– With Jenna Jameson not on the floor and then retiring at the AVN Awards and Lexington Steele announcing his retirement from performing, the industry may have lost it’s two biggest stars of the past decade in the same show.
– I hear that before he goes, Lex plans to do some work with Jules Jordan. Lex and Jenna Haze perhaps? Wouldn’t that be fucking hot?
– I did look around for Skeeter Kerkove in hopes of talking to him about some of the stuff that has gone on. I don’t know if he was there or not.
– Houston Don loves breaking my balls and for the life of me I don’t know why.
– Shay Jordan stood me up for our ice cream date this year. Is that a bad sign? She looks amazing and I think we are going to see her really bust out this year.
– As much as my meeting with Eon McKai did much to confirm what a lot people already think of him, my interview with Dana DeArmond couldn’t have gone better. (Well, it could have for Rebecca I guess. I get the feeling that had I left quicker the two of them might have shared a lovely moment or two.)
– Was it just me or did the aisles seem considerably less crowded this year? There seemed to be a lot of booths so I would be interested to hear what the attendance was.
– Hillary Scott is so fucking pretty in person, it hurts. She also has perhaps the best set of enhanced boobs ever.
– I has a couple of nice conversations with Brandon Iron. He is a genuinely nice guy who I enjoy talking with.
– Aurora Snow looks fantastic. She’s also in the market for a web master, so if you know of one, hit her up.
– Thanks to my good friend Skeeter, I had a number of girls ask if they could be in the super secret Rog POV line. I may just have to look into this a little more. For the right price, who knows what I might come up with.
– I think Chris Alexander was impressed by Savana Switzer. And you know what, I think the feeling was mutual.
– “The Four” From Ninn Worx looks like a pretty incredible piece of porn with an intense mainstream feel. I only hope that the sex is as good as the trailer.
– I spoke briefly with Paul at AVN. I was once again honored to be able to vote in the AVN Awards. Maybe next year I’ll actually go. This year I had to fly back for some family stuff. I’ll need a date though.
– It truly was a pleasure to meet Rebecca and Savana. It could only have been more fun had we been able to compare notes over a nice dinner and perhaps….oh wait, did I type that or just think it?
– Perhaps best of all, I got a chance to catch up with some of the good friends I have made over the years. There aren’t many, but any time I get to catch up with Tod, Den, Luke, Dave and the rest of the people I have come to know, I feel pretty good. And of course, Jeff at IAFD without whom I would never have thought to put my stuff into web site form. I owe you a lot my friend. More than I can ever repay. I’ll miss you most of all scarecrow.
That’s it for the notes. Now it’s time to work on the full report, pictures and interviews. If you have anything to add or want me to focus on a particular aspect of the notes, send your input on over. Thanks very much.
