Of Issues & Hotness

Real Names: Wow, this issue takes me way back. A long, long time ago before most of you were probably even watching porn, the issue of revealing porn stars’ real names became a hot topic when Luke Ford printed several of them on his web site. The industry reaction was understandably negative. People who perform in adult movies have plenty of reasons for keeping their real names private. Luke and the industry did battle for a while and eventually he backed off of printed real names as a matter of course. Nearly a decade later, the issue is back on Luke’s new site www.LukeIsBack.com. He posted recently pondering why we feel the need to protect the real names of porn stars. After all, we don’t have a problem publishing the real names of mainstream actors who now go by stage names. It’s an interesting issue I suppose. Personally I see no good reason to post a porn performer’s real name. What value does it bring to the table? People want to perform in porn flicks and not have their information out there. Why? Stigma? Safety? Privacy? Probably a little bit of all three. This isn’t the same as changing our name to make you more marketable in Hollywood. There are people out there who will always hold porn against a person. Is that the price people have to pay for the choices they make? To a certain extent yes, but why should we make things worse? When someone does porn these days they can be sure that their images will be around for a very long time. This isn’t the 80’s where a movie or two might get lost over time. Your stuff is on the internet and will be out there forever. So it’s going to be tough enough to walk away without having that cloud over your head. Why make it worse? Why let the world know that little Suzie Creamcheese from Nebraska is in porn? Why put her family through whatever shit they have to go through? Most of you know that I’m very big on personal responsibility. If you do something you live with the consequences of your actions. I still believe that. But I also believe that intentionally doing something that will possibly or even probably cause harm to another person is wrong. So why do we protect their names? Privacy, to help keep them safe from potential stalkers, common courtesy, to help give them a way to ease back into civilian life when they want, to hot cause their parents, friends or children any undue emotional stress and about a thousand other reasons. Perhaps the better question is why would we want or need to reveal them?

Eye Candy: From our friends at Anabolic Movie clips of Skyler Dupree getting butt banged.

OSHA/Worker’s Comp & Other Stuff: There is a long thread currently on ADT (Read Thread Here.) It is a long thread with a lot of great posts, some interesting ideas and solid insight. It also has a lot of sniping, some back stabbing and more than a bit of stink to it. Who is Looky? (I still think he/she sounds a lot like a guy I used to know with the same initials as a hall of fame linebacker/crack head and a current all-world running back.) What is the agenda here? I have long felt that performers in this industry must be treated well or the whole house will come crashing down. When company owners pay off rape victims to not report on-set assaults, I think it hurts the business. When tests are faked or results covered up, it hurts the business and endangers lives. When companies fail to check into the backgrounds of the people working for them and end up allowing violent felons and sex offenders to direct, it puts people in danger. That said, I’m quite alarmed by some of the ideas being pushed forward in the thread. Are porn performers really “employees” instead of independent contractors? Lots of people have throw lots of facts, figures and ideas into the mix, but no one is any closer to answering that question. I don’t see how someone who shows up to shoot one scene in the morning and then takes off to shoot another for a different company can be seen as an employee, but that’s probably open for discussion. What alarms me is what the definition might do in terms of workers comp claims and mandated health care insurance. How many scenes does a girl have to shoot for a company before they are required to pay for at least part of her health care insurance? Are they covered for four hours? As for who pays for injuries on set (One of Looky’s talking points) that one gets sticky. She/he claims that it would cost the companies abut 25 bucks a scene for coverage. From what I know about insurance in California, I would doubt those numbers, but let’s just say that they are dead on. OK, 25 bucks a scene isn’t that much for a company to absorb to make sure they are covered. On the other hand, if it only costs 25 bucks, why can’t the performers pay it themselves? Or how about a split? If you have a standard boy/girl scene wouldn’t that be about eight bucks each if the company picks up 1/3? Oddly enough Looky never has responded to that question. It pretty clearly doesn’t fit in with the “follow every law” mantra for his/her agenda. No matter who pays for the WC insurance one thing is for certain. The first time someone make a claim for a blown out asshole, genital warts or severe rug burn, the premiums will increase. Then what?

Of even greater concern is this celebratory attitude show by some posters about the possible enforcement of every OSHA guideline put forth. For those who don’t remember, OSHA put out a list after the last HIV outbreak that named everything they require for a work place to be safe. Looky and a few others welcome the day when that list is the law of the land. Let’s take a look at what porn movies in the last year would be “legal” according to OSHA. Here’s the list……

That’s right folks, according to that OHSA list, no porn set is safe, none are up to standard and all of them would be shut down. Why? Because that OSHA list requires the use of condoms/dental dams/gloves from start to finish. That’s right. No bareback blowjobs or unrubbered finger fucking. I am in favor of keeping talent safe, but these guidelines will shut down all of porn in California. This is why I have long said that our greatest threat comes not from the blustery forces on the religious right, but from the quiet tyranny of those seeking greater control over our daily lives. So let’s leave it there for now. Shoot over your thoughts on this issue. All input is welcome. No one has to agree with anything, let’s just try and keep it civil.

Eye Candy: From her newly re-done site, here is Tera Patrick sucking dick in a video gallery.

Hotness: OK so we covered two serious issues, let’s get to something fun. As some of you may know, I am madly in lust with Shay Jordan. She is beautiful, smart, sexy, funny, hot and almost too damn nice to be in this business. Well Shay has been working hard so far in 08 to keep up with her on line activities. Part of that apparently is to add some new photo galleries to her MySpace page. I guess I could complain that she hasn’t done a full Rog Rules gear gallery shoot yet, but how can any complain when they see this awesome new gallery of pictures taken by Celeste.? They can’t or at least they shouldn’t. Shay looks amazing and everyone should check her out. Nice work Celeste, great work Shay. Now let’s put those new Rog Rules shirts to good use, OK?
