Post Election Cleaning of the Inbox
Super Tuesday: As some of you read, I took Tuesday off to go work the local polling place. I may post a full account of the experience and post it separately, but I’m sure no one really wants to hear all that just now. Let’s just say that things went very smoothly even though our precinct lost three of our six voting machines to hardware failure. Would have been hell for a general election, but we kept them moving along. No troubles other than the upset voters who just don’t understand the closed primary thing. “Why can’t I vote for Hillary?” “Why do I HAVE to vote the Democrat ballot?” Basic stuff like that. I think our voter turnout was around 27%, but 40% of the precinct is vote by mail so we probably got up to 50% which is great for a primary. Our winners mirrored the statewide results with Hillary and John winning. We also knocked down the phony term limits thing and passed all of the gambling initiatives. Nothing exciting, but things ran smoothly. It was a long day (5:45 AM to 9:45 PM) for about 90 bucks, but hey it was worth it. So anyway, I’m back now with a lot of stuff in the inbox. I’ll try to get to as much of it as possible.

XBiz Honors Digital Playground with Nominations: The XBiz Awards are tonight and Digital Playground has a really good chance of walking away with a handful of trophies. They were given seven XBiz Awards nominations including some in the biggest categories. Contract Girls Jesse Jane and Shay Jordan have both been nominated as Female Performer of the Year and New Starlet of the Year respectively. Director Robby D was tagged as a Best Director nominee and his Jack’s Playground is up for Series of the Year. Digital Playground’s Virtual Sex series is also nominated and they are up for Studio of the Year. Robby D’s Handheld Pictures is also nominated as Emerging Studio of the Year so it could be a big night all around.
Samantha Lewis, Digital Playground CEO comments, “These nominations reflect many aspects of our operation, from our beautiful stars and products to our actual business model. It is an honor to have Digital Playground acknowledged on every level. I would like to thank Alec Helmy, XBIZ and its staff for their continued support and recognition.”
The 2008 XBIZ Awards will be hosted by Digital Playground Contract Star, Jesse Jane® and Kevin Blatt, premiering Thursday, February 7, 2008, at The Highlands in Hollywood, California. This year’s awards will once again coincide with the XBIZ Hollywood ’08 Conference to be held February 6-8, 2008 at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

KSEX is Gone: OK so I’m late on this story because I was working the polls. (Not working the poles y’all) It appears that KSEX has closed its doors. The story is muddled and confusing and a lot of he-said/they-said so we’ll have to let history decide who killed KSEX and when. I had a good time doing guest appearances and reviews for shows with Flower Tucci and Maria, Wanks, Sunny Lane and more than a few others. I even did my one on-camera interview with Flower and Maria back during the 04 World Series. Wow, it’s been over three years. At any rate, this might be a good time to think about some audio podcast reviews. With the Daily Noise Show on hiatus and KSEX gone, maybe I could record some short reviews or news for people to download on the go. Thoughts?

Holy Shaq: All of a sudden the NBA’s Western Conference power teams are all trying to outdo one another. First it was Damon heading to San Antonio as a bit of insurance for Tony Parker. Then CWebb ended up in Golden State rather than Detroit or Boston. Then the Lakers pull of a gift deal to land Gasol for two huge stiffs. Now The Diesel (and I don’t mean Shane) is in the land of McCain? Does the addition of Shaq make the Suns the team to beat? How well can the Daddy play with the Dirty Hippy? Can he run with the Suns? Did they give up too much for a guy who hasn’t shown much? And can the Heat resign Marion or will they use that cap money for something else. Will the Mavs make a move next? And what about the East? The Celtics and Pistons are sitting there looking good. What do the Pistons need now that Webber is out of the picture. Jason Kidd and Sam Cassell both want out and the Celtics need a point guard. Will the Clips buy out Sam? Will the Nets trade Kidd? And if somehow the Nets traded Kidd to Boston could I actually cheer for a wife beating moron? Most importantly, will Shaq body slam the little rapist….errrr Little Princess when he drives the lane at Staples Center. I’d pay to see that.
