Skyler Nicole Talks Racism in Mainstream Mag, Mic.com
Los Angeles – Skyler Nicole, the outspoken and intrepid porn star, who also happens to be African-American, was recently featured in a mainstream article sharing her views on what she sees as rampant racism within the adult industry. The article, entitled “There’s a Serious Racism Problem in the Porn Industry,†was written by industry expert and Sociologist Dr. Chauntelle Tibbals, was published on Mic.com.
The article came in response to the shocking and insensitive e-mail blast by talent agency Exposed Models LA this month. In the e-mail, which was headlined, “February is Black History Month and all of this month our talent will be doing IR BG scenes at their lowest rate,†the agency offers their (white) talent at a discount to perform with African-American performers in interracial scenes for the month, as a promotional tool.
Skyler is quoted in the piece as saying, “…I think it’s highly offensive but then again this is coming from a nobody, unlicensed agent. I’m honestly sick of it to the point … where the only thing I can do is ignore it. There’s no reason to keep tweeting or expressing how racist this industry is when it’s been like this for
years.”
Skyler added, “I’d like to thank Dr. Chauntelle for giving me the platform for my voice to be heard, and I hope it helps opens up further discussion about racism in the industry.”
