Babs Loves Bernie, A Bit of a Rant
Friday: Time for another weekend already. No big plans around here. We’re getting ready for next weekend. Our entire development is being tented for termites and it’s our turn next weekend. That means packing everything up and heading off to see the family for a few days. I’m bringing the laptop and will update the site as I’m gone. Going to miss the Dodgers/Angels series in Anaheim and that kind of sucks. It will be nice to see the family though. Guess it beats staying here and dying under an chemical-free tent. The weekend after next is Memorial Day weekend. Should be fun. We’re taking off to San Diego to see the Police with Elvis Costello. After spending 500 bucks last year on seat to see the Police, we’re doing 40 buck lawn seats this time. I haven’t seen a show down there since around 1990 when I sat on the lawn and watched Rod Stewart on one of his farewell tours. Hopefully this time Elvis isn’t doing one of his “only playing the new stuff” like the last time I saw him. (1994 or so.) That’s it though. The rest of May is all about work, getting interviews up, learning the new site and hopefully getting it going really soon.

Bernie & Babs: By now most of you have probably heard that talk show host Bernie Ward pled guilty of trafficking child pornography this week. If you need the details, read the article at SFGate.com. Let’s forget for a moment that a few hundred ultra-left blogs may need to re-think their “Bernie is innocent and being singled bout because he doesn’t like Bush” rhetoric in light of his admission. Let’s throw out the chat logs where he talked about spanking it in front of his daughter, sodomizing his own son and opening discussed seeking out more children for similar activities. (Seriously, forget that. He was just role playing in chat so we might assume it was fiction. Sick and sad though it might be, fiction is fiction.) My concern and outrage is not leveled and the hypocrites who lashed out to defend him and now bite their tongues in the face of Bernie’s guilt. My anger today is reserved for California Senator Barbara Boxer. Bernie worked for Babs years ago and she is a big fan of his show. Of course she is. It fits her world view and she is clearly not his only fan. She is however, a US Senator who (according to numerous accounts) put pressure on investigators to stop their investigation. She has called the prosecution of Bernie “a miscarriage of justice” and an “abuse” of power. This too is her right. She can and should speak out when someone is being wrongfully accused. That she said some of this after his guilty plea and after the transcripts of his incestuous pedophile fantasy world went public may be cause for concern, but let’s give Babs a pass on that for now. What bothers me is the fact that our esteemed Senator from California has remained silent on all of the Federal Obscenity prosecutions in the past few years. Her office has been silent as John Stagliano and Evil Angel face charges. Not a word about “miscarriage” or “abuse” on this. Am I wrong to be pissed off about this? So Babs thinks that it is appropriate for her to speak up in defense of an admitted trafficker in child pornography (And not just arty nude shots y’all, Bernie likes the hard core little ones) yet the distributor of adult movies depicting consenting adults engaged in legal sex acts deserves her silence? Bernie chats openly about showing darling daughter the goods, buggering baby boy and wants to go on kiddie hunts and someone prosecuting him is “abuse”? Yet John faces charges and her office can’t even comment on the situation? Why? Because Bernie once worked in your office? Because he is a “tireless fundraiser” for the ‘right’ causes? Frankly that’s a big offensive. I’m sure that Bernie is a great fund raiser and his political views may raise the ire of some, but that doesn’t excuse his behavior. Madame Senator, as a citizen of the state of California I would think that you might choose to stick your neck out for a legitimate businessman making adult product for adults before you crawl way out on a limb with the full weight of you office to support a child pornographer. But that’s just me.
