Fan Faves: The Finals Are Set
And Then There Were Four
www.ElegantAngel.com
With three rounds of the 2008 RogReviews.com Fan Faves Awards in the books we are down to the Final Four in each category. Voting begins in a matter of days and will continue for one week. Winners will be announced and trophies will be handed out at AEE next week.
Best Female Performer : Continuing her dominance, Jenna Haze took another step towards her third consecutive win in this category. For the first time this year she was held to under 50%, but Jenna still managed to score nearly four times as many votes as the other finalist from bracket one, Jesse Jane. Sasha Grey led the way in bracket two with a quarter of the vote. She joins the other two in a rematch of last year’s final four. Teagan is the only new name in the finals for 2008. She beat out Bree Olson by a handful of votes to prevent a complete rematch of the 07 finals. The way she is going, it may take a miracle for someone to unseat Jenna Haze. At least I know that whoever wins will be fun to give a trophy to.
Best Newbie: Apparently the key to making the finals in this category is to be connected in some way with Digital Playground. Three of the four finalists are or were DP contract girls at some point. Stoya won bracket one with nearly 30% of the vote. That was enough to beat Adrenalynn for the stop slot. Kristina Rose came in third, but this was a two person race. Tori Black also scored close to 30% in beating Gabriella Fox in bracket two. Priya Rai was a distant third. This could be the closest four race of the finals with all four women scoring well and bringing great fan support to the last week of voting.
Best Male Performer: Last year’s winner Manuel Ferrara makes a return trip to the finals thanks to his win in bracket one. He is joined by Evan Stone who seems to always be near the top but has yet to win the award. Bracket two features James Deen as a new entry into the finals. He is joined by Lexington Steele who has more than his share of wins in this category. This one should come down to Lex versus Manuel in what should be a very tight finish.
Best Director: Going into the semi-finals, we had more female directors still alive than ever before. Only one of them, Belladonna, survived, but Stormy, Joanna Angel and Tina Tyler did well. Bella won bracket one, beating out Chris Streams who held off Manuel Ferrara and Stormy to earn a trip to the finals. Jules Jordan and Robby D easily made it out of bracket two with Jules piling up nearly 40% of the vote. He is in position to win his ninth title in a row, but could see some competition from Streams, Bella or Robby this year.
Best Movie: In another Digital Playground dominated category, they scored three of the top four movies. Only Jules Jordan’s Lex the Impaler 3 broke the stranglehold. Robby D’s Control 9 came in second in that bracket. DP dominated bracket one with features Cheerleaders and Pirates 2 holding off Not Bewitched and E for Eva to set up a big showdown. Will the features cancel each other out? Will Jules pull off a Don Henley-esque surprise win. (Wow, did anyone get that reference?) Can Cheerleaders sneak in there? Or will this be the first of dozens of awards won by Pirates 2?
Favorite Studio: No shockers here. The same four companies are in the finals this year. Evil Angel, Jules Jordan Video, Digital Playground and Elegant Angel will once again battle it out. Naughty America and Brazzers came close, but the web based companies appear to be a year away from taking on the gonzo porn giants. Evil and JJV have won before and Digital Playground has come close. This should be another right race.
Most Wanted Celebrity: And here we go. The top scoring celebrity babes of 08 are Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Beil, Kierra Knightly and Meagan Fox. Not a bad bunch to be sure. I’ll take Scarlett from this foursome, but Britney and Jennifer Love were my girls. They are out of it so we are down to four chicks any of us would die to have sex with. Then again, that would have been true no matter who won.
Good luck to all the finalists and I will see the winners in a week to present them with their trophies.
