Lots of Vegas Stuff

OK, it has taken nearly a week for me to feel halfway human after Vegas, but I think I’m finally back on solid ground. What is it about that place that draws me in, makes me sick, exhausts me and sends me home wondering how long I need to wait before going back? This is sort of a general notebook entry with a lot of Vegas stuff. I’m working on a proper on-floor report, but for now here are the notes from the week.
AEE Overall: Everyone was wondering how the slumping economy would effect the show and the attendance. There was a noticeable difference on the floor in terms of exhibitors. The first few rows were packed with the big companies as usual. Evil Angel, Vivid, Wicked, Hustler and Digital Playground made for a great front line. Further back, the lack of large booths was evident. Instead of going five rows deep, this year’s show only went about three. There seemed to be a lot more toy exhibitors this year. That’s probably a good thing for that market. I noticed a lot more variety as I got to the back of the floor. Teravision and Anabolic were among the big companies without a booth this year. Overall it was about what I expected given the economy. I was pleasantly surprised though by the fan attendance. With the exhibitors seemingly down I was expecting aisles that were not quite as packed as what I saw on Friday and Saturday. I haven’t seen the attendance numbers posted anywhere, but it seemed like there were quite a few fans on hand. All things considered the show looked pretty good to me. (Though I did spend most of my time inside a booth.)

www.FreeAudioXXX.com: I spend most of my time this year in the www.FreeAudioXXX.com booth. Aurora Snow was signing and she is fun to watch with fans. I’ve been to 21 of these shows and you can really see a difference when a woman knows how to work a line. Fans came by to see her and also got a look at the web site. FreeAudioXXX.com was running an orgasm contest in the booth and a number of female performers as well as a handful of civilians stepped into the booth to take their shot that thousand dollar prize. (Entries are still being accepted on line so check them out.) It was a different experience to be in a booth instead of running around the floor chasing interviews. I still got quite a few really good interviews and it was nice to relax a bit. I’ll be working on transcribing the interviews in the weeks to come. If anyone wants to transcribe some of these let me know. I’ll be happy to hook you up with some DVDs or whatnot.

The Great Anagram: Every now and then the subject of my pen name comes up. Why was it Roger P. Tipe for a time? What does the T stand for? I’ve always said that the name is an anagram and to date only a handful of people have figured it out. This year two people tried to figure it out and both of them came up with something interesting. My best friend enlisted the help of a web site and came up with a new one. Then when I got home Gram Ponante who was furiously scribbling notes at the Circle bar emailed me with the same anagram. Apparently “Ego Tripper” is an anagram for Roger T. Pipe, and it’s a damn good one. As Gram said, if that isn’t it, it should be. Indeed it should and yet it isn’t. So the mystery continues.

AEE Virgins: My friends Christopher and Courtney made their first trip to AEE this year and had a blast. I usually hang out with these good friends at Angel/Red Sox games (You guys may remember her boobs from a great Rog Rules T Shirt shot and he’s the one who helped get me through the NBA Finals without killing myself) so it was fun to hang out in a new environment. Since Chris is a huge Aurora Snow fan they hung out at the booth for a while and we even had dinner with Aurora and her cute friend. They even managed to make it to the AVN Awards and promise a recap for us soon. It was a blast hanging out with them Thanks guys. Can’t wait for baseball season.

Kid Rock: One of the guys I had working the floor taking pictures from me ended up in a real life version of a beer commercial. While in line to see Jesse Jane, he got yanked out of line because he looked like “he can take pictures” and spent the next 48 hours as Kid Rock’s personal photographer. Not a bad gig and of course I wasn’t around to enjoy that. Jesse was supposed to get me an autographed copy of “Cocky” years ago when she was dating Kid, but that never happened. Of course she owes me three blowjobs and we haven’t cashed those in yet either. We should have some more details on this soon, maybe some pictures and who knows what else.
Eye Candy: I didn’t get close to Vivid this year. (Can’t find B Skow’s number) so I didn’t get to talk to Hanna Hilton. At least we can admire her from afar.
BCS Championship Game: I stayed in a friend’s time share this year down close to Planet Hollywood. It was a bit of a walk or a short cab ride, but it was awesome. Kitchen, dinning room, huge bed and a living room with a sweet big screen. So I was hoping to head home to watch the Oklahom/Florida title game with some beer and a few good friends. Alas, work kept me busy at and ended up in a dinner meeting at the Grande Luxe (Yes Virginia, Asian Nachos) instead. Probably better for me since once again Bob Stoops’ team managed to gag in the big one. Good game by Florida from what I could see and just another disappointing end to another Sooner season. Hey, at least USC kicked the crap out of another Big Ten school in the Rose Bowl.
Eye Candy: Andi Anderson had an invite to the Rose Bowl, but couldn’t make it. Perhaps she was busy as she is here in this Naughty America gallery.
Email Bankruptcy: They say you learn something new every day. I know I learn something new every time I go to Vegas. This year I learned a new term. “Email Bankruptcy.” While having our traditional adios ceveza, Jeff (of IAFD.com fame) and I were discussing email box pile up. He suggested I simply declare “Email Bankruptcy” and wipe out everything from any farther back than six months. (About 3000 emails right now.) I don’t know if I can do it, but it makes sense and it’s yet another word I can overuse this year and be sick of by Vegas 2010.

First Knight of Porn: My favorite interview tidbit from 2009 came from Digital Playground’s Riley Steele. The beautiful blonde has a lot going for her, great looks, a hot body and a high profile contact. She also has something in common with yours truly. Riley and I attended the same high school. That’s right, she’s a fellow SMHS Knight. Of course she was born two years AFTER I graduated. I believe that Riley is the first girl in porn to have attended my high school. That probably qualifies us to be married in some alternative porno universe.
