Super Bowl, My New Hero & Max Behind Bars

It’s been a while since I’ve just written an old fashioned blog. Not sure why. I’ve been working on a lot of reviews and more news stories and individual pieces. Better than these catch all blog entries? The feedback has been about the same so I take it everyone is OK either way. Lots of stuff today. Thoughts on the Super Bowl, my attempt at Twittering, a few political thoughts and the first of something new that I’ve been working on. And as usual, eye candy in the middle to help pass the time.

Super Bowl: I don’t think anyone I knew picked the Cardinals to be the big game at the start of the season. That alone was exciting, but what a game. As some of you discovered, I was drinking, reviewing and updating Twitter as I watched the game. Why? I’m not entirely sure. It was one of those multi-tasking days. To make matters worse I was also texting like a fiend. I was on multi-task overload by halftime, but it was fun. I can’t recall a Super Bowl with more “game changing” moments. The defensive TD to the half, the huge Cardinal comeback, the near miss and then the final scoring play. It was really, really exciting and that’s what we all want in the end right? I don’t remember any of the commercials. Not because I was too drunk, but just because they were boring. I ended up doing a lot of reviewing and Twittering during the breaks. Blame it on the economy I guess, just no money and creativity out there. At halftime I switched right over to ABC to watch Wipe Out. Come on, Springsteen or cheerleaders vs. couch potatoes? No contest. I saw “The Boss” 25 years ago and he was amazing. But now? Sorry Bruce, but I’d much rather watch hot chicks get pelted with paint soaked Nerf footballs than to hear Springsteen play anything post “Born in the USA.” I did flip back over in time to catch the end of “Born to Run.” Though his chats with “Stevie” are beyond dated, it was a great performance and should have ended the show on a super high note. Instead he went into “Glory Days.” Ouch, painful irony there Boss.

Max Behind Bars: As most of you already know, Max Hardcore surrendered to authorities last week and began serving his 46 month sentence. According to a story on AVN (Read Story Here) he will spend that time locally in the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles. It isn’t where his attorneys hoped he would end up and they are still trying to get him moved to Lompoc, but for now Max is still in LA. He can not currently receive visitors, but that could change soon. It’s still hard to imagine that Max is going to be gone for nearly four years for making a movie. I also wonder what it will be like when he returns. What state will the industry be in and where will Max Hardcore fit into that landscape. Wow, big questions.

Eye Candy: Still hot as ever Monica Mayhem plays with a hot girlfriend.

Taxing Problems: So Tom Daschle had to withdraw his name from consideration. That’s good news all the way around. Tax issues were starting to look like Obama’s “illegal nanny” problem. Dropping out was definitely the right thing for the former senator to do. His excuse for not reporting a ‘donated’ car and driver as income was that he didn’t think about it. I don’t know which is worse. The idea that he just didn’t pay his taxes or this lame ass excuse. Either way, he needed to step down or be asked to do so. If the Obama Administration wants to turn the page and offer us change then stuff like this needs to be weeded out. I only wish I was surprised to find that a career douche like Daschle was busy not paying his taxes while encouraging all of us to pay more of them. I just wish people would quit blaming Obama for this. These tax problems are not his. Let’s just let Daschle fade back into obscurity and hope that we can address the real issues facing the country.

I Have a New Hero: In a recent profile article in the New Yorker (Full Story Here) Alec Baldwin has a lot to say about a lot of things. In fact he whines a lot about a lot of things. On the long list of his complaints are a number of issues he has with NBC. Apparently Alec feels that they haven’t done enough to push 30 Rock while “They’ve gone out of their way to wring the last drops out of ‘My Name Is Earl’ and ‘Scrubs.’ Those shows are done! They’re cooked!” This certainly doesn’t make Baldwin my new hero. He’s still the same over inflated gasbag he’s always been. My new hero is “Earl” creator Greg Garcia who read the article and did the unthinkable. He fired back at one of Hollywood’s sacred cows. Garcia said the following.

“Instead of blaming NBC, I think Alec should consider that some people in America may not want to watch a man who cusses out his own 11 year old daughter on a phone message, calling her a “rude thoughtless little pig.” It’s a shame that the people who produce such a funny show have to put up with such a distasteful man on a daily basis. It makes me thankful to have such a wonderful cast on My Name is Earl, a show that is still going strong and has helped bring an audience to 30 Rock over the last few years. You’re welcome, Alec.
Oh, and the reason NBC occasionally puts on an hour-long episode of Earl is because an hour of Earl gets better ratings than an Earl followed by a 30 Rock. It’s called math, stupid.”

Wow…I mean just wow. The whole thing is so dead on that I can’t add to it. I’ll just say that Greg Garcia is my new hero and marvel at….It’s called math, stupid.

Eye Candy: Kimberly Kane has a new web site and it’s a little different. Check out ILoveStr8Boyz.com if you dare.

ABCs of Porn: This was supposed to be where I wrote the first installment of the ABC’s of porn. It’s something I did years ago in the newsgroups days, but I’m going to put it off. It’s getting towards the end of the day, I have three reviews to write and the Celtic/Laker game is about to start.
