Summer’s Finally Here
Finally…yeah right. I can’t believe we’re rolling up on June already. Half of the year is nearly gone. How does time seem to keep speeding up? I hope you are all enjoying a great weekend and that you have a chance to relax tomorrow and perhaps enjoy a day of sun, BBQ, swimming and most of all, friends and family. I hope you all take some time out to remember those who have lost their lives in defense of this country. So many families have given the ultimate sacrifice so we can sit around drinking beer, arguing about which side of the gay marriage debate is right without worrying about being shot at or dragged from our homes. I know that a lot of you reading this site are either in the military or have family serving. You have my utmost respect and my sincere gratitude.

Girlfriend Exerience: By now most of you know that Sasha Grey is the star of Steven Soderbergh’s latest movie “The Girlfriend Experience.” It is certainly a big deal to have an adult star in the lead of a major Hollywood project. Granted, this isn’t exactly “Traffic” or “Out of Sight.” (Had to a LONG way back to find a really good Soderbergh flick. “Full Frontal” and “Solaris” were so dreadfully boring that I never could get through them.) So far the reviews of the movie and Grey’s performance have been very good. Since this is the first time an adult star has had such a big role in a mainstream movie, it will be interesting to see how she gets treated. Traci Lords was both unfairly trashed and inexplicably praised (Depending on the publication) for her early mainstream work. Of course she wasn’t a working adult actress. In fact, her willingness to trash the industry that got her those roles. (No one really believes that she got Cry Baby because of her talent do they?) The movie isn’t on anywhere around here, but I’m sure I will see it eventually. I’ve been quite impressed with Sasha in the past. Her performance in Throat was very, very good. She appeared on the Rotten Tomatoes show this week and was great. They liked the movie and had Sasha list her five favorite movies. Look for more mainstream work from Sasha.

That’s plenty for today. Lots to talk about including a weekend of 80’s videos on VH1, the continuing insanity that is Brittany Starr on Charm School and plenty of other stuff. For now though, I’m heading to the pool then going to fire up the BBQ for some burgers with the family.
