Review:
So, I’ve been doing the pournalist gig for about two years now, and needless to say, I’ve certainly expanded my palette of sexual appetite to include toys of the longer variety. Two years ago, the Mini would have packed a hell of a wallop. Actually, in many ways, it does remind me of the first toy I ever reviewed, the Gyro, but whereas I expect the Gyro would still please me (had I not worn the motor out, anyway) the Mini is nothing short of disappointing.
Of course, it may have something to do with the fact I couldn’t review to any movies. The very-active Christian Coalition of Kansas City recently had several of the local sex toy and adult movie places closed. What can I say? I hate change and long drives, and knowing that I will now have to commute across the state line to get my porn fix puts me in a really bad mood, especially since I was on the waiting list for the next “Off the Air” copy. Jesus, I love you, but this sexually-frustrated nymphomaniac isn’t digging your fan club at the moment.
Anyway, I decided to improvise in the situation and read Rog’s reviews of some of the newer releases. When a girl is desperate (did I mention it’s been a while since I got sex outside of the battery-operated variety?) reading the rather graphic descriptions of what men and women do to each other can be enough to send a person tumbling over the edge. In my case, “Sperm Receptacles 3,” featuring fellow KC-native Allaura Sweet, caught my attention long enough for me to go hunting all over the Internet to bring up Sweet’s profile. Interestingly, I recognized her actual name (although I’m not sure it’s wise to have that attached to her Allaura Sweet MySpace) and realized we have several friends in common from our days on rivaling cheerleading squads.
I encourage everyone to check Sweet out, because the girl is hot. So hot, I really didn’t need actual porn ot get myself excited. The pictures on her MySpace, which are tasteful and teasing, are enough to make any person with a decent set of eyes and a sexually-charged brain, drool. Rog and I have been talking about shooting a “Savana Switzer Sleep-Over” party video for some time, and Sweet would be an ideal attendee.
Once I had reached a certain point of arousal courtesy of a lacey-lingerie-and-toy fantasy, I allowed myself to lay back and gently swipe the tip of the Mini along my clit. Twisting the bottom of the machine, it gently reverberated against my clit, coaxing forth a few long-suppressed moans. I also slipped my first two fingers inside, dually stimulating myself because damn it if I’m just not worth the double-duty. The vibrations were subtle and gentle, and even manipulating those didn’t create an unbearable or over-powering sensation, but it didn’t elicit an orgasm, either. After working with it for a few minutes, I relocated it to inside, guiding it in and out while manipulating the vibration settings. With a little twisting of my hand and the toy, it did manage to touch my G-spot, but not with the kind of intensity that really tends to get me going. Even with the highest vibe, I had a feeling I’d get more worked up inside the Tilt-o-Whirl at the carnival. More problematic, the Mini’s claim to fame is as a G-spot tickler, and while it took a swipe or two in the right direction, I didn’t feel the kind of pressure I needed to ensure climax. Switching again, teasing my clit didn’t stimulate much more of an effect. When I came, it wasn’t with anything other than sort of a routine feeling.
That has to be my biggest complaint about the Mini. Not that it’s a terrible toy, just that there isn’t anything terribly original or extraordinary about it. It did remind me a lot of the Gyro, minus the nodes at the end that added to stimulation. It’s even possible that the fact I’ve reviewed the sex toys that I have (those sporting several inches to their battery-operated base) have jaded me against smaller toys.
Is it possible I’ve become a size-queen? I’d have to say so, at least of the plastic variety. Gone are the days when I balked at the idea of doing myself with toys rivaling Louisville Sluggers. Let’s just say that given the choice between smaller toys like the Mini or toys modeled after Lexington Steele, the Mini is always going to strike out.
Still, for women who want a mild toy that won’t toss their cervixes into their throats, the Mini would be a very wise investment. Slim and sleek, it’s durability under water would make it the perfect toy for a little shower experimenting, with a partner from behind especially. More to the point, it’s curving head is the perfect shape for learning how to pleasure ones’ self and really get to know the body.
Weaknesses: Weak vibrations, and not quite long enough to get to the G-spot. Probably a toy better for partner-play.
Batteries Needed: 2 AA Batteries (Not included)
