OK, I’ve been busting my ass to get 15 reviews done before the weekend because things are getting crazy around here. The Sox are in town for the next two nights for the first round of the playoffs. (The annual, Angels lose to the Red Sox baseball square dance.) Saturday I’m in San Diego for my grandparents’ 70th anniversary party. Awesome event that I can’t miss. Sunday I’m out in the desert helping a friend with a shoot. (Sorry no porn so no eye candy.) Busy weekend and what was the point? Oh yeah, that this blog is going to cover some ridiculous items that hopefully will make you smile.
Mr. Pot, Mr. Kettle: So last week on CNN James Carville took a few swipes at Glenn Beck. Now, I haven’t seen anything Beck has done in probably a month. I just haven’t had the time or the inclination to watch any political chatter shows. What I’ve seen from Beck is pretty out there. Apparently Mr. Carville agrees. “I think he’s nuts, OK?,” said Carville. ” “Just out-and-out nuts. And I also think that he’s a blatant hypocrite.” Now Carville may have a point. Glenn Beck might be nuts, but I wonder if this dude has taken a look in the mirror lately. James Carville is fucking daffy. He’s more than just a true believer and more than just a spokes-hole, he’s certifiable. As for calling Beck a hypoctrite, that had something to do with Glenn being unpatriotic because he was happy we didn’t get the Olympic bid. I didn’t hear the Beck comments so I’m not about to defend him. On the other hand, being happy we didn’t get the Olympics doesn’t automatically make one unpatriotic does it? We’ve had two in recent years and they were both mishandled. (Bombing in Atl and the horrible scandals around the SLC games) I wish we had gotten the games too, but I think it’s laughable for Carville to question someone’s patriotism over an Olympic bid that quite frankly, we didn’t earn. But the bottom line is that James Carville calling anyone “nuts” is just too fucking hysterical for words.

Foul Play: So a few months back Ryan Howard hit his 200th home run. It was special to Howard I’m sure and especially significant because Howard got to 200 home runs faster than anyone in the history of the game. A 12 year old girl, Jennifer Valdivia ended up with the historic baseball and as is customary was taken to the clubhouse and offered a trade. She was given a signed baseball in exchange. This a pretty standard thing with baseball. A player hits a historic home run and a fan gets something nice in return. That wasn’t enough for young Jennifer, or more to the point, her greedy parents and her scum sucking lawyer. They immediately filed a lawsuit to get the ball back. Read More Here) Look, I don’t mind if the girl wants more for a real live home run ball than just an autograph. Catching a ball at a game is an amazing thing for a fan. The problem is that the family and the lawyer don’t talk about that. It’s all about how much MONEY the fucking ball is worth. It’s all about how much cash they could squeeze from the Phillies for a historic baseball or how much jack they can extort from Howard to get something he might like to put in his trophy case. Should the little girl get more than a signed ball? Probably. Should she be forced to give up the ball? No. Should she be allowed to keep it as a great piece of history? Of course. Or even sell it to the highest bidder? Yeah that too. What shouldn’t be going on here is the lesson that Jennifer’s parents are teaching her. They are showing her that it’s just fine to be a greedy pig and extort as much money as possible from someone as long as you have something they really, really want. And yes, it matters quite a bit that Ryan Howard is not some spoiled piece of shit roid abuser who cares nothing for the fans. He is the kind of guy who does more than his share for the game, his team and his community. Too bad the same can’t be said for Jennifer’s parents or the douchebag they have as a mouthpiece. I hope they get nothing. I hope baseball, the Phillies, Ryan Howard and even the collectables market turns their back on the whole money-grubbing lot of them.

Acorn Was Framed: The point of this blog was to point out some absurd stories. So far we’ve got Carville calling someone nuts, a little girl’s parents turning her into a scummy extortionist and now we have this story. (Read More Here) Senator Roland Burris has seen all of the ACORN videos, he’s heard the accusations of corruption, knows about the history of voter fraud and he has come to a simple conclusion. ACORN is the victim or a vast right wing conspiracy. When the US Census rightly cut ties with ACORN in the light of the scandals, Senator Burris gave us a different point of view. He felts that the Census Bureau should have given ACORN a “fair hearing” before cutting ties. I rather like that idea in general. That’s why ACORN is being dealt with in the courts for the voter fraud issues. He feels that the videos are part of a “sting” and points out that ACORN is suing over the videos. All fine and good. The makers of those videos certainly had an agenda. They were looking to get ACORN employees to fuck up, and guess what, they did. How does that explain the behavior of these people when presented with what should have been an absurd and offensive question? How do you give someone advice on how to cheat the IRS, skirt the law and benefit from child prostitution? What decent person doesn’t kick the people out and call the police? And hey, you all know that I am in favor of legalizing prostitution. It’s a ridiculous notion that people should be jailed for consensual sexual behavior. But for now it IS against the law and more to the point, using children in such businesses is deplorable. Did ACORN condone the behavior? No. Not publicly and not based on anything we know for sure. They fired the scum bags on the videos and should support legal action against these assholes. On the other hand this wasn’t a one time thing. They found the same behavior in more than one office. Clearly there is something wrong here, something rotten and if Senator Burris wants to blame it on some idiots with a video camera then he’s clearly more out of touch than just about anyone in the Senate. Hey Senator Burris, how about if you stop making excuses for really, REALLY bad people just because they got “stung” by folks with an “agenda”? Just a thought.

Levi Johnson, the high school drop out, dead beat dad moronic fuck who is famous for being stupid, irresponsible and money hungry is posing for Playgirl? He’s already cashing in on behavior that should have make him a sad footnote (“Levi is now doing it with protection” Really? To sell fucking nuts?) Who wants to see this piece of shit naked? All politics and the reality of what makes him a media darling aside, this guy is an under-educated dope who knocked up his teenage girlfriend and then ran away like a fucking coward. Now he’s trying to cash in on his kid without even trying to a father. Why would any magazine offer this asshole a dime?
