Blog: Jenna v. Tito and Justin Long Quits IR
From the Wonderful World of Twitter
So there have been a few major porn stories unfolding on line over the past few days. As such things tend to do, these stories blew up a bit on Twitter. By the way, you can follow me on Twitter by clicking this link. It’s funny how you can lose a day on Twitter if you aren’t careful.
Eye Candy: Before we get to the serious stories, enjoy Sexy Nicole Ray as a hot cheerleader.
Jenna/Tito Drama: By now most of you have probably heard that Jenna Jameson’s soon to be (maybe) ex Tito Ortiz was arrested for allegedly knocking her around. He responded by calling her a drug addict when he got out of jail. Clearly this is a horrible story no matter who you want to believe. Either he’s a total dick bag who beats up women or she’s a lying drug addict willing to put her man behind bars because he tries to stop her. (Or perhaps something in between.) Any way you slice it, it is a horrible story with a lot of pain involved. So naturally the dinks at TMZ are treating it like it’s the funniest fucking thing in the world. The true ass bags on Twitter used the situation to pile on and engage in acts of extreme douchebaggery. The personal attacks on Jenna got so bad that at one point she was going to quit Twitter. (Not a bad idea for any celebrity actually) I’m not sure if she did it or not, but that’s how bad it got. Things got even stranger when a porn blogger was accused of actually rooting for Jenna to be abused. That set off quite a wave of drama as I’m sure you can imagine. Apparently though the blogger was a victim of altered tweets. Seriously? We don’t have enough fucking shit to worry about these days without having someone alter a tweet to make everyone pissed? See how the drama and negativity just spread like waves? At any rate, this story will be done to death I’m sure. Not that it isn’t worth of our attention. I have no tolerance for men who beat women and if Jenna does have a substance problem she needs to get help right away. These people have children and in our rush to get the drama, rumors and even the story out there, people seem to forget that.
Eye Candy: Jenna in happier times watching Aurora Snow get fucked.
Justin Long: The second huge story that helped blow up because of Twitter comes to us from porn performer Justin Long. He wrote a highly thought provoking piece for LukeIsBack.com in which he announced that he will no longer being doing any sort of interracial porn. Before you read further, please Read: Justin Long “I Will No Longer Being Doing Any Sort of Interracial Porn.” He touches on a number of issues and it’s already been torn apart several times. This issue has been raised for years and I’ve always had strong feelings about it. (Some of you may remember the long and ugly flame wars I had with one Mike Paul over this sort of thing.) I doubt I have time to really cover everything in one shot, but let me start by saying this. I support Justin’s decision 100%. As an adult performer he has the right to refuse to work with anyone based on anything he chooses. It’s his body and his right to take or turn down work for any reason at all. That’s always been my position for the women and it applies to the men as well. I don’t think he is a “racist” or even that his new policy can be called the same. I don’t think it’s a “good” idea overall for his career or even for the cause he’s championing, but I support his decision and his right to make it absolutely. I think his “fight fire with fire” approach will get a lot of attention, turn a lot of heads, piss off some of the right (and wrong) people and ultimately put a big target on his back. That could ultimately be a good thing because it forces us to once again ask the hard questions. There are plenty of other topics to discuss as a follow up to this. Does IR ever harm a performers’ career? Are black males underrepresented at porn awards? (I did nominate Justin for Best Male Performer more than once for the record) Is refusing to do IR sex “racist”? Why is only black on white considered IR? Should we boycott female performers who don’t do IR? Should we support those who do? Does holding back on IR give a performer more money down the road and a longer shelf life? These are questions we can ask because we aren’t the ones with our dicks in the wind and our livelihoods on the line. I’ve had this conversation with men and women in porn for nearly fifteen years. Some shrug it off, some take it seriously. Some talk tough and then there is Justin who is putting his money where his mouth is. I applaud his courage and hope that when the initial smoke from the flame wars dies down that we can take a long hard look at issues that Justin brings up and work towards righting some of the inequities (both real and perceived) in our industry. Kudos to Justin for the piece and to Cindi for running it over on LukeIsBack.com (UPDATE: Spoke briefly with Justin via Twitter. I am going to do some follow up on this story with him and do what I can to help raise awareness.)
Eye Candy: I guess no one told Bree Olson that rule about contract girls avoiding IR
Comments: I would like to open up both of these topics for discussion. Since I don’t yet have a nice little auto comment thing working you will need to email at rog@rogreviews.com. I’m not big on censoring, but no matter what you have to say about these issues, say it with some class and tact. You don’t have to agree with Jenna or Justin or me, but don’t be a total dick weed if you expect me to publish the comments. (NOTE: Cindi says that I should send you to LukeIsBack.com for that.)
