The 2010 FAME Awards (www.TheFameAwards.com) are now in the finals phase. The elite eight for each category has been chosen and voting takes place until the middle of next week.
I will continue to break down the races and encouraging fans to contribute over on the Forum (FAME Awards Thread). This is a place to cheer for your favorites, post pictures and campaign for those you think are deserving.
I would also encourage anyone nominated to use this thread as an opportunity to swing some votes your way. Some nice promo pictures would do it, or even some “Rog Rules” sign or lipstick pictures would do be great. Who knows, maybe someone will even make a campaign video.
The Favorite Female Starlet category has been dominated in recent years by Tera Patrick. Her multiple wins have helped back up her “most popular pornstar in the world” moniker. Since she is not in the running this year, the field is wide open for the next girl to step up and take the crown. Will one of these eight women step up and become the world’s most popular pornstar? Can they fill Tera’s big shoes and even bigger bra? Only time will tell. We do know for a fact though that this year we will have a new Favorite Female Starlet.
I think we should probably wait to see which finalist bribes…errrr…campaigns with some eye candy before officially endorsing anyone, but a few words about each candidate can’t hurt. Three of the eight women are contract stars this year. Digital Playground’s Jesse Jane makes another finals appearance and is joined by two Adam & Eve contract stars. Bree Olson and Teagan Presley represent A&E. Does anyone else find it a little odd that neither Wicked nor Vivid landed a single contract star in the finals? There was a time when a contest like this would have been dominated by those two companies. That four of the girls are gonzo performers (Five if you count Lisa Ann) tells us a lot about the changing dynamic of porn and once again shows the power of the web to market directly to porn fans.
The three contract stars have plenty going for them. They are all good looking, have great bodies are all good performers. No one ever accused Bree of doing a scene halfway and even since moving to A&E she has been a dirty mouthed little cutie up for anything. Jesse Jane is a whole lot of fun to watch. She fucks hard and seems to get off shoving huge cocks down her throat. She’s also fun, sexy and a great interview. Teagan is super popular with fans and she should be. She’s super cute, has a killer body and has proven that she can handle any kind of porn the audience wants. These days she is only doing girls, but still looks great and provides a lot of energy in her veggie scenes. Will that be enough to take on some heavy hitting gonzo stars? We will have to see.
I didn’t count Lisa Ann as a gonzo girl only because she seems to own the MILF/Cougar market. That she made the top eight pornstars in this competition is a tribute to her popularity, her heat and the fact that she has come back better than ever. Her inclusion here should also all but assure her a win in the other category.
That leaves four extremely popular gonzo girls competing for votes. Tori Black won pretty much everything in porn this year and she fucking deserved it. She’s great looking, is always white hot in scenes and just shows up everywhere. There is something almost alarmingly beautiful about her face that just makes her hot and nasty sex scenes even more impressive. Alexis Texas also had a fine year and even started doing a little anal. Since she’s been a leading ass queen for a while, that was a big event and should win her more than a few votes. Sasha Grey had an even bigger year in mainstream than in adult. That will probably help get her some votes from people who might not follow adult as closely as the usual hard core voters. Sasha is a great performer though and could win this one on her sex scenes alone.
That leaves Jenna Haze. I’ve learned never to bet against her in anything. She’s been a huge star in this business for a long time and has earned her reputation as one of the hottest performers we have ever seen. She’s cute, tight and does some seriously nasty things. Jenna has also turned director and makes some great gonzo flicks.
So who wins? What do you guys think? I’m going to hold off and let you have the first word. Speak up. If you want someone to win, say it. If you have reasons to add to my list, add them. And of course we will so which of these eight women come forward first with a Rog Rules or Vote for Me sign picture.
