It is awards season again and Wicked is breaking out one hell of a big gun. It has been a decade since Brad Armstrong and jessica drake gave us the classic Fallen. Two things stand out about this movie right away. First of all, it is a legitimate sequel that picks up with the same lead characters and follows the original story arc while adding to it. The second is that Armstrong and drake are able to create this movie a decade after the original speaks volumes about their staying power and talent. Those two factors are interesting, but in the end the movie has to stand on its own. (Well sort of. The DVD comes with a copy of the original to add to the value.) Luckily, standing on its own is not a problem for Fallen II. It is a beautifully crafted movie. The technical aspects are impeccable from the camerawork to the costumes, from the lighting to the music. It all fits together incredibly well. Every scene was fun to watch because it is just so technically tight. The acting performances are also impressive and worthy of award nominations. I say it at least twice a year, but jessica drake is the best actress in the business. This movie only adds to her already impressive resume. This should earn her another Best Actress win from basically every organization that gives out such trophies. Armstrong also does a really good job in front of the camera as well as behind it. Tommy Pistol’s performance is also noteworthy. If felt like he was going over the top during the first half of the film, but in later scenes he reminds us of just how damn good he is. Award worthy for sure. Sexually the movie is very solid as well. The lighting, editing and music all to the sex which is a really welcome change from so many other features these days. The actual sex is helped along greatly by the fact that jessica drake is outstanding in her scenes and the fact that she is present in almost all of the movie’s seven sex scenes. One on one or in groups, jessica provides beauty, class, energy and just enough naughtiness to make her the full package. The rest of the cast is pretty good as well, especially Misty Stone, but this really is jessica’s movie and she shines in every possible way. Great effort by Armstrong as he adds a fantastic title to his long list of hits and successfully pulls of a great sequel a decade after the original.
