Sherry Ziegelmeyer, founder of Black and Blue Media, Passes Away
Ed Note: Sherry was a a wonderful person. She was a positive voice in our industry who was always supportive and she will be missed. RIP my friend.
Los Angeles, California — Sherry Ziegelmeyer, founder, partner, and owner of Black and Blue Media, passed away Monday evening, October 19th, in her southern California home. Ziegelmeyer had been through a hard struggle with cancer, chose not to receive treatment and had been in hospice care since Early September.
Ziegelmeyer had her roots in publicity early on with the recording and radio industry, doing publicity for rock bands and working at stations like KLOS. She started Black and Blue Media in 2004. The firm would go on to represent A list clients like Skye Blue, Ron Harris, and Michael Ninn.
Chaturbate, the premier, live cam platform, was her most recent client for five years, for whom she was writing marketing and PR copy. She will dearly be missed.
Jay Moyes, her business partner and consultant for the firm, said “This was very difficult for everyone close to Sherry. She did not want friends and peers in the industry to know. She insisted we keep it secret. Sherry refused to admit she had cancer, instead telling a few close friends she had injured her back. We made her as comfortable as possible until the end. We held her hand, and told her we loved her. Her dearest, Silver Pixel, our kitty was by her side.”
Due to current circumstances, Black and Blue Media will close. Plans are being made to continue the work in the near future.
There is not an official memorial planned, but when industry friends can gather at an industry event safely, raise a glass and shed a tear, an announcement will be made for a little something that would bring a smile to her face. Some friends in the music business are planning an online commemoration, and details will be made available when ready.
