2007 Adult Entertainment Expo

Back From Vegas: Back home in the office after a few days in Vegas and I have a lot of stuff to get to. I’ll have the usual AEE report in it’s normal form, but I also have a few notes that I’m going to unload here as well. Overall it was a good trip. I didn’t come home sick and that’s a plus. I got to talk to about half of the people I wanted to, went to about one third of the parties I should have and only ate Asian nachos twice. (That’s nearly unforgivable.) I’ve been so busy since I got back that I’m still not even sure who won all of the major AVN Awards. I do know that I have a big Ha-Ha email to send to Eli Cross who swore up and down that Corruption was going to get shut out. More on that later. Let’s get to the notebook, the eye candy, the email and the playoffs…and whatever else I manage to throw in here this week.

Eye Candy: Wicked has revamped their site and it includes a hot photo set of jessica drake from Curse Eternal. I just happen to have interviewed jd and have to say that it was a pleasure.

AEE Overall Thoughts: There was a lot of talk going into the AEE show this year. Some companies had bowed out and people were speculating about the future of the show. I don’t think we have any definitive answers yet, but I would put this show right in the middle of pack. (And remember, I’ve now been to 19 of them.) It was better than some, not as good as others. There were certainly some big companies that I didn’t see. New Sensations/Digital Sin was missing. (So I couldn’t ask them about screeners and such.) Sin City was also not around. (Sex Z Pictures took their usual spot right at the entrance.) Mercenary Pictures wasn’t around, though I did get to talk with Lexington Steele and Tina Tyler for a bit. There were also several new companies on hand including a huge booth from Jules Jordan Video. The back half of the room seemed to be much smaller companies (Including some Asian stuff that looked great, but I couldn’t find anyone to talk to about screeners.) and things like toys and other adult products. There were some empty spaces, but also quite a bit of activity on the floor. Once they opened the door for the fans, the aisles were packed. No matter what the final verdict from the industry, the fans clearly still love this show and will throw down serious bucks for autographs, pictures and some good free stuff.

Eye Candy: I didn’t get to interview her, but Kaylani Lei was back at the Wicked booth and looking fan-fucking-tastic.

AEE Interviews: I busted my ass on the floor to get as many interviews this year as possible. Since we’re focusing on the audio interviews with as little editing as possible, I tried to cut them all a little shorter. That made it easier to get more in, though floor interviews are still a challenge. The background noise will be fun to play with and there is a lot of “come back in a bit” going on. As usual, I spend a few hours in the Digital Playground booth getting their whole team on tape. Anabolic gave me three really good interviews as well. I finally got to interview jessica drake after several near misses. She’s fantastic. I missed out on Cindy Crawford and Mika Tan and I can’t tell you how upset that made me. Maybe we can set something up during the year. Among the more interesting interviews I got was a very candid conversation with Jim Powers. He’s a very funny guy and I think you’ll enjoy the interviews. Also look for a pretty solid interview with Eli Cross. I hope you enjoy. Cross your fingers that the background noise won’t kill them.

RRCC & RRFF Winners: I announced the winners of the Critic’s Choice awards on the Daily Noise show on Wednesday morning. Next year we will have to plan to do that at a time when everyone isn’t already on the floor. Erik Everhard won Best Male Performer again and I am sure that will delight out friend Bob in J’Ville to no end. Jules Jordan’s Jenna Haze: Darkside picked up the award for Best All-Sex Movie. Adam & Eve scored a Best Feature win for Tailgunners. Naomi edged out a solid field for Best Newbie. The Best Female Performer race was even closer. In the end, Hillary Scott and Sunny Lane tied and both walked away with a trophy. Speaking of trophies, I was able to hand out all but one on the floor. Both Jules and Jenna were very gracious as they collected their hardware. Both of them picked up awards from Darkside as well as Fan Fave trophies. (Jenna as Best Female Performer and Jules yet another win as Best Director.) Sasha Grey looked gorgeous as I handed her the fan fave trophy as Best Newbie. Naomi wasn’t around when I came back to give her the RRCC for the same award though. At least that saved us the awkward moment of her looking at me without a clue as to what I was handing her. Robby D was very happy to receive his first RRCC as Best Director. It was a great year for him and he vows to hold onto the title next year. I was able to interview both Sunny and Hillary when I gave them their trophies. They are wonderful young women, full of energy and smiles. Next year though, I’m going to have to carry the trophies around a few at a time. Carrying them all at once nearly left my shoulder damaged beyond belief.

More Vegas Stuff: I actually did a little more at night in Vegas than usual. Never much of a party guy, I only hit one of those, but I did more Circle Bar lingering than usual. When I got in on Tuesday night, it was already close to ten, so I barely had enough time to put down my stuff and hit the CB. I met up with Jeff from www.IAFD.com and started in on some beer. We were enjoying a few drinks when I got a call from who wanted me to meet the new Digital Playground contract girls. He had Lacie Heart, Sophia Santi and the amazing Shay Jordan. It was pretty hard to concentrate on anything once I got a look at these three gorgeous creatures. Sophia didn’t have much to say, Shay was charming and Lacie did what so many porn girls do. She introduced herself by saying “you’re the guy who trashes my movies.” For the record, I don’t trash her movies, and I think she knew that. The movie she was talking about was and it got a B-. Come on Lacie, I can do better than that if I want to trash someone. (Ahem, Valentina) It became a running thing between the two of us and she would tell everyone who walked by that it was my job “to rip people.” Shay was much more friendly and after a few minutes we already decided that she wanted me to father her children in a few years. (Because of the beautiful results I could show her, NOT because of any overwhelming desire on her part to actually let me stick my dick in her.) Jeff and his friends were on Jersey time so they headed out pretty early. Robby took the girls up soon after and I ended up talking with Scott Nails for quite a while. I didn’t realize he was only 24. It’s kind of a rare thing for someone to be as established in this business (as male talent) at such a young age. He isn’t much of an internet guy and wasn’t even aware that he was nominated for the RRCC. I went over the list of nominees and ranked himself somewhere in the top four or five guys. Scott and Lacie are together so he was on his best behavior for the most part. After a few Red Bull & Vodkas, which I had never tried before, Scott did try to convince me to shove my finger up Eva Angelina’s asshole. Apparently she wanted him to be the guy to do her ass on her web site and Scott needed someone to try it out. I’m an old fashioned guy and I figure if I am going to stick my finger into a girl’s ass in the middle of a crowded casino, she has to the one who asks. I may not have done the finger thing, but I did make sure that Eva wasn’t wearing panties and I have to say that she has very smooth skin on her thighs, ass and on those beautiful lower lips. AVN Awards: I was on a plane home before the AVN Awards Saturday night so I didn’t get a chance to check out the winners until I got back. Now I’ve got them up and I’m working on a whole piece devoted just to that subject. Not to give anything away, but there are a few quick notes for those who haven’t seen the results yet. Starting right at the top, Hillary Scott shocked no one by capturing the Female Performer of the Year award. She had a great year sexually and did two really excellent acting jobs in Britney Rears 3 and Corruption. Tommy Gunn walked away with the Best Male Performer award. That may be a bit more of a surprise, but certainly wasn’t that big of an upset. I was shocked and totally excited to see that Mika Tan won as the Most Underrated Starlet of the Year. Naming Jim Powers as the Director of the Year was a great move. For years, I’ve said that Powers is the most underrated director in the business. More on that later, but good for him. Arch-enemies Jules Jordan and Robby D Split the Vignette categories with Jules taking one home for Jenna Haze Darkside and Robby winning for vignette series for his Jack’s Playground movies. I’m not sure that either Darkside of Jack’s Playground really belong in the vignette category. I’m still trying to figure out which AVN voters actually picked Neu Wave Hookers as Best All Sex Release. Did someone miss a memo? That movie was the single biggest piece of crap Porn Valley put out last year. Yikes.

Vegas: Wednesday: After a few too many Red Bull & Vodkas and very little sleep, I pulled myself out of bed and down to the Denny’s attached to the Casino Royale for the ADT breakfast gathering. It was a collection of the usual suspects (If I try to name everyone I will leave someone out and that would suck.) I know that I sat with Morbid and Bono because we discussed the RRCC nominations. I was on my way to the Daily Noise studios to announce the winners again this year. Though the winners were still a secret, I gave Bono a few hints. Of course I had given quite a few people hints at the Circle Bar the night before, including Robby D who started texting me right away to find out if he had won.

This was my first year in Vegas without a car or a ride, so I found out the hard way that the cab line at the next hotel over can take a while. Thankfully the guys at Daily Noise weren’t expecting me right at ten. I ended up making it in time for the second half of the hour. Last year I did the show and announced the awards with Aurora Snow and Porn Valley Princess in tow. This year Aurora was on the floor and PVP was too sick to make it. With no time to find a replacement, I was flying solo. That didn’t make for the best eye candy, but I think the show went all right. None of the winners (Full List Here) were on hand to give speeches, but at least one…ahem, Robby D, was on the phone trying to find out the results. He was on a photo shoot with Shay Jordan so I passed my time waiting for a cab by fucking with him a little bit. First I texted him that Jules Jordan had won (again) and then texted Shay the same thing. Then five minutes later I texted Shay to tell Robby that in fact he had won. Just for fun I waited until Robby texted me back that he was excited to have won and then waited ten more minutes before telling him that Shay was fucking with him. (Why on earth didn’t one of us just pick up the phone.) At any rate, he was completely confused and didn’t have a clue as to who really won.

I took a cab back to my room and dropped off my trophies. By the time I hit the floor it was nearly 1. Next year I will have to do the show on a non-floor day because I lost about half a day of industry-only time. As soon as I got into the building, I paid a visit to the Digital Playground booth to let Robby know that he did actually win the award. He was relieved to find out that Shay and I were fucking with him and quite appreciative. I knew that I had to get started with interviews and since Nicole Sheridan was sitting right next to us at the Smash booth, I grabbed her up for interview number one. It’s been a few years since she and I have spoken, but she picked up where we left off and gave me a great interview despite the ridiculous noise coming from the booth.

More Vegas: Wednesday: After getting one interview under my belt, I wandered around the floor to get a lay of the land. There were a few missing companies and I seemed to notice a lack of booths in some areas of the floor. The companies who did show up certainly seemed to be rolling out the red carpet. It was tough to miss Jules Jordan’s Pornitentiary with razor wire and a huge guard tower. I stopped by the JM Productions booth to say hi to Kimberly Kane. We haven’t talked a lot since she stopped doing the KSEX show on Wednesdays. After losing half of my interviews last year, I only botched it one this year. Sadly it was the one I did with Kimberly. She had a lot of cool things to say about alt-porn, but we will have to come up with a time to interview again later. In the same booth, I got to talk with JM owner Jeff Mike. We had a long talk about what’s going on with the company. He suggested I pop on over to XPT with the biggest train wreck review of the week. That sounds like it could be a whole lot of fun.

Somewhere during the afternoon, Jeff gave me a call to tell me that Reel Big Fish was playing at the House of Blues. I love those guys so we arranged to meet up after the show and head over the Palms. Before I left the floor, I told both Sunny Lane and Hillary Scott about their Best Female Performer wins. Sunny was excited, but I think her mom was even more ecstatic. Hillary seemed pleased and made time for a quick interview. Since I lost our sit-down from last year, we covered some new stuff as well as the old. She insists that her quagging isn’t fake and that if I just haven’t felt a really good gag-fest of a blowjob. We’re working on a time when she can show me the error of my ways. Who knows? Stranger things have happened.

After catching dinner at the TI Buffet, we caught a cab to the Palms in time to see the band. It was a strange mix of people. All day on the floor I tried to talk to porn folks about the show, but no one seemed to know who RBF were. Then at the show it seemed to be people my age and then a whole bunch of 24 and under kids. Maybe there is a black hole when it comes to Reel Big Fish’s music. Maybe the hot chicks of porn don’t know who they are, but RBF put on a great show. They are a fantastic live band and made us laugh more than once. Hey Jeff “This song is from our new live album. It’s called SR.” Thank you sir, thank you ma’am, thank you sir, thank you ma’am. After a great night of live music, we hit the Café Lux for some late-night Asian Nachos. Year after year that amazing dish is one of the best reasons to hit Vegas. If you ever get a chance to have some, order up a plate and enjoy pure culinary Heaven. Once you’ve tried that, don’t miss the banana cream pie. It’s freaking amazing.

Vegas: Thursday: I grabbed a quick bite at Denny’s on the way to the floor on Thursday. I had a much busier day scheduled, starting with a round-robin in the Digital Playground booth. Every year, Adella runs one of the tightest ships on the floor. When you show up at 10:!5 for an interview, you’re going to be sitting down with someone to interview within moments. I honestly don’t know how she does it. I sat down first with one of my favorite girls, Jesse Jane. We’ve done the interview thing several times before, but this year we had some very serious business to get to. In the past she has promised me a few things, only to act like she doesn’t know what we’re talking about on the air. Click Here to Hear Jesse’s Promise. After Jesse, I got to sit down with Shay Jordan. She would be named “The Next Best Thing” two days later and her great interview is part of the reason. Before leaving the DP booth, I also got Jana Cova, Robby D, Lacie Heart and Sophia Santi. It was a very good day for interviews and you’ll be hearing them very soon.

Anabolic/Diabolic: The next stop on my booth tour was at the Anabolic/Diabolic booth. They always have a nice collection of young babes and this year was no exception. He should not be confused with Robby D and is actually related to ex-Extreme movie maker Ivan. He has some interesting ideas and has a lot in store for us this year. I’m happy to say that I was able to get him to talk just a little bit of smack about his big brother. We could have the first great talk-war of the year brewing.

Miss Aurora Snow: It is always a pleasure for me to sit down with Aurora Snow. This year we had quite a bit to talk about. Her web site has been down for a while after a conflict with her web master. Director of the Year: I cruised back over to the JM Productions booth for an interview with director Jim Powers. Jim has been around for a long time and is one of the most prolific directors of our time. I was tempted to sit down and do the whole two hour thing, but I tried to keep it short. We talked about some of the revolutionary lines he has started, his unusual sense of humor and what it’s like to go largely unrecognized by too many critics. That would change when AVN gave him Director of the Year, which was a nice touch. This was one of those interviews where people kept popping in. We get a guest spot from Johnny Thrust, Ashley Blue and a young man who wanted to get into the bukkake line. I hope you guys enjoy that one.

There’s a Naked Girl in My Room: I was on my way back to my room to change for a quick dinner at Outback and then the Adult DVD Talk party when I ran into my old friend Monstar (ContactPornStars.com). Party Time: After a great Outback steak, we all took a cab over to the Palms or the Adult DVD Talk party. Our beautiful host Devinn Lane had things well in hand by the time we got there. It was an interesting mix of some old friends, new friends and a couple of people who apparently think I don’t like them. How does this happen? Am I that aloof? Come on people. The party was a lot of fun and I even got a chance to interview two new girls. Look for a solid interview with Bobbi Starr. She’s a very sexy woman who handled herself wonderfully. I did my best with Tommy Ryden, but things got a bit out of hand. It’s hard to blame anyone though. I had a very sexy woman sitting next to me and people wanted to listen in. It became a bit like an interview by committee and I don’t know how it’s going to sound. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. My friend Alicia who was in town to help me pass out trophies, hit it off with Jim Gunn and the two vanished at some point during the night. Even the ever elusive David Aaron Clark made an appearance. It was late in the evening (and I blew that room away….) and after many beers that ADT’s Stroker cornered Jeff and I with his mike. Apparently someone thought it would be a good idea for him to interview the two of us for his podcast. We searched for a quiet place with no smoke and settled into the giant shower at the back of the suite. Three middle-aged men with facial hair in the shower might be a horrible idea of a gay porn flick, but it made for an interesting conversation. We had just enough alcohol to let the words flow as we retraced our steps in this industry. Jeff’s roots are considerably deeper and more interesting than mine, but I chimed in when I could. Things were just getting pretty good when Stronker ran out of space on his recorder. I’m afraid we will have to wait for another time to finish this podcast. I look forward to it. Consider it another successful party. Oh and as far as I know, no one had sex in the bathroom at this one. Maybe next year? Anyone want to volunteer to join me? Vegas: Friday Morning: After another late night on Thursday, I wasn’t as bright and cheery as I might have been. I grabbed another quick breakfast at Denny’s. You know, I joke with Mrs. Rog that I drink more during the four to six days that I’m Vegas than I do the entire rest of the year. That’s actually the truth. Vegas also fills my Denny’s quota for the year. I eat there four or five days in a row in Vegas and then maybe twice during the rest of the year. With a nice pancake breakfast in my stomach I hit the floor for another interview in the Digital Playground booth. I had one more girl to get to. I have interviewed Katsumi twice before, but this time we talked about her new contract. I’m still curious to see what this signing means. Either DP is adding some edge to their movies or Katsumi is going to tone down her scenes. From the interview I gather that is it s a bit of both.

My Lunch With Londo: I wasn’t feeling really well on the floor on Friday, but I made my way from booth to booth trying to get interviews. My good friend April Storm didn’t make it to Vegas after spending a few days in the hospital. That made it tougher to get into the Pure Play Media booth, but I did manage a couple of good interviews. Asian hottie Miko Sinz has impressed me all year and is even prettier in person. She has shifted to girls and solo only, but there are still plenty of scenes for us to enjoy. Micha Moore was right there next to her so I slid over and got an interview with her as well. By the time I finished with them, there was just enough time for a quick lunch. You see, I had a 2 PM appointment with jessica drake and I wasn’t about to miss that interview again this year. I cruised over to the Café Lux with my friend Londo Cat (The man who runs the Mr. Marcus forum over at www.SFBayVideos.com). I had to have another plate of Asian Nachos even if my stomach was threatening to make it a very long day. I’m afraid I wasn’t great lunch company because not only was I felling ill, but we ended up sitting next to Pat Myne. I don’t know if he recognized me, but he tossed a few dirty looks my way. Maybe he just didn’t like the conversation. Londo, you have my sincere apologies. I was a horrible lunch companion.

Stars, MILFs, Legends & Extreme: I made it back onto the floor in time for my interview with jessica. We have tried to get this done for several years, but something always happens. I was determined not to let that happen again so I camped out inside the Wicked fortress. When it was finally my turn I made sure to ask her right away about the unusual spelling of her name. The audio or the interview should be interesting because ten seconds into the interview, someone cranked up the music. jessica was a great interview and I even got her to do some preliminary Rog Rules shots. She will have to do some more back home, but we have some good eye candy to enjoy until then. I went back over to the Pure Play booth where I was able to present Sunny lane with her Rog Reviews Critic’s Choice award as Best Female Performer. She and Hillary Scott tied for the award and like Hillary, Sunny was quite pleased to get her hands on some hardware. It was a great interview and as you can see some from the shots, Sunny is quite proud of those sexy cheeks she’s carrying around behind her. From there I got the chance to interview Krystal Summers who was recently named Best MILF by Den over at CAVR.com. She is a beautiful woman who did a pretty good job given her limited interview experience. Krystal recently worked for Sinsation and their director Dee, so I got a real treat. I got to interview Dee. It’s hard to believe that this woman has been around for ten years, especially since she doesn’t look a day older than when she started. As we talked, I think I fell even more in love with her. Dee has that old school sensibility about her. You know, she actually thinks that women are beautiful and that enjoying them for a few seconds before the Phizerections take over is a good thing. We also had fun talking about the fact that she has been in just about every ethnic line ever created, even those that don’t come close to matching her own genetic make up. I also got her to do a little sexy Spanish dirty talk. I know you guys are going to enjoy that interview. So there I was, feeling pretty good about my day, if not enjoying the best of health. Then I popped into the Extreme booth to get a promised interview with my old friend Lizzy Borden. We got about two minutes into the interview when she was yanked away to go help Paris humiliate some fat old guy in his underwear. I waited for a while, interviewing Lizzy’s Suicide Girl make up artist. She was interesting, but stopped when Ms. Borden came back. Moments later, Zupko took her away again. This time I grabbed Brian Surewood and had him pretend to be Lizzy. That was fun for a few seconds, but we were distracted by the site of Paris taking cell phone shots up her own skirt. We took the interview on the road, trying to find out who Paris was sending the shots to. She didn’t seem all that amused. With Lizzy still flittering about I continued the wandering interview. Tom Byron gave the obligatory Nelson Muntz political commentary and talked about Jules Jordan’s booth. Eventually Lizzy came back and we got an interview. I don’t know if the audio for that cluserfuck will ever find its way to the site, but it was an experience to be sure.

My Date With Shay Jordan: I still wasn’t feeling well after the show and ended up taking a nap for much of the evening. I managed to get out of the room for one simple reason. I had a date with Digital Playground girl Shay Jordan. She looked amazing and since we were both tired, we decided on something simple. I took her upstairs at the Venetian (Oh stop it guys, she has better taste than THAT) and we had an ice cream. Shay is a gorgeous young woman who seems to have her stuff together. I told her over ice cream that she was the first winner of the Next Big Thing Award. She has beauty, class and a great sense of humor. It is going to be fun watching her develop into a star. If you haven’t had the pleasure, check out Shay. (Sexual Freak 3: Shay Jordan) I think you will find her to be almost as hot on screen as she is off. Our date ended early, but hopefully Shay will honor me with a second date next year. From that high, I went back to the Circle Bar and hung out with some considerably less attractive people. No offense to Van Styles, Tim Von Swine, Vince Vouyer or Mike John, but when you’ve eaten ice cream with Shay Jordan, beer with the guys isn’t quite as easy on the eyes. It was a lot of fun though. I do enjoy talking with these guys. There are people in this industry who really get it. They understand that they make movies for all of you. You guys (and a few ladies) who spend your hard earned cash on smut and want something good for you buck. I finished my evening with a conversation with Jeff Steward of JM Productions. He suggested that I drop some train wreck reviews onto XPT. Maybe then I can get a link up over there. Jeff had a really sexy young college girl in two. Apparently she’s a Girlvert groupie. That’s fucking hot and so was she. Thanks to some great conversation, lots of beer and the lingering high from my date with Shay, I went home happy even though I still felt a little sick.

Vegas Saturday: My last day in Vegas was pretty hectic. I decided not to check out of the hotel even though I had a flight out of town. Hitting the floor with my bag still mostly stuffed with trophies I really wanted to pass them out. (Those things are heavy and I carried them all day on Friday.) Since I have quite a few trophies for Jules Jordan, I stopped by his booth first. He had time for a quick interview so after handing him his trophies for Jenna Haze Darkside (Fan Fave as Best DVD and Critic’s Choice for Best All-Sex Movie) and his six or seventh straight Fan Fave Best Director Award. We still need to do a longer interview covering his entire career, but we had a chance to touch on all of the stuff he’s doing now. From there I headed towards the front of the room for what became the Corruption interview train. First up was Ms. Alana Evans who discussed her award-nominated (and now award-winning) role in the movie. She is also working on a line of movies where she breaks in new, young (18-22) guys. That should be quite interesting. During this portion of my day, my Southern Belle was in tow and she was taking it all in. She talked with Chris Evans while I interviewed Alana and then stayed put while I got to sit down with Kylie Ireland. Like Alana, she did an amazing job in Corruption and was up for the same award. When I was done with Kylie, I sat down with the director of Corruption, Eli Cross. I still can’t get a read on this guy. Either he really is a guy who takes his work seriously, but is totally at home with taking himself less than seriously, or he’s just putting on a good show. We had quite a laugh about his “pretentious prick” outfit and how well that fit in with the director persona. I found him to be incredibly open, perhaps too much so for his own good, very funny and also quite passionate about his work. All of those things make for a great interview in my book so I hope you all enjoy it. I also hope to get a longer interview with him later, perhaps covering his time at AVN.

Monstar’s Girls: After the success from earlier in the show, Monstar (www.ContactPornStars.com) set me up with two of his other girls. First I interviewed Shy Love who was signing in a very loud booth. The company makes high end action features and the trailers made it hard to hear what she was saying. We’ll have to see how the interview comes out. It was tough to focus on my interview with Brooke Haven because she was going for the serious flirt mode. Brooke is a very sexy woman who has a good time. Last year I failed to ask her about interracial and some people got upset. So this year I asked her. Out the Door: There was time for one more interview before I hit the road. Years after our first interview at Black Angus, I sat down with Jenna Haze and finally caught up. It wasn’t easy because people were lining up for her autograph so I let her go with a very short interview this time. That was all I had time for on the floor. I did a final round of good byes and headed back to my hotel to pack up.

My Flight with Felix: I packed up all of my crap and grabbed a cab to the airport. As I’ve said many times before, I hate flying out of Vegas. Something always seems to go wrong. I typed out a few notes about my AEE experience and listened to Reel Big Fish on the Ipod while waiting for the flight. I got onto the plane and it was only about 1/3 full. I had my side of the aisle to myself and when I went to sit down I noticed that I was one row in front of and across the aisle from Felix Vicious. We had just spoken on the floor a few hours earlier and had a chance to exchange impressions of this year’s show. Everything was fine until we were just about ready to take off. There was a problem with an indicator light or something that held us up for about twenty minutes. People started getting a little chippy from the waiting. There was a young woman sitting behind me, just across from Felix. She didn’t like waiting, was already half in the bag and started to get really vocal. The flight attendant passed her and asked the girl to please take her feet off of the seats. That pretty much set it off. The girl snapped at the flight attendant and for a while it looked like we were going to be held up even longer while they tossed her right off of the plane. Never a dull moment I guess. At least I got to talk to Felix for a bit. She really is an even more attractive person off screen than she was on.

The Next Big Thing: I got a chance to personally hand Shay Jordan her trophy as The Next Big Thing today. I drove up to the Valley for lunch with Shay and Robby D. They were busy shooting, but apparently she was anxious to get her hands on that long hard thing I have for her. The trophy of course. Let’s not get carried away. More on that, with some photos later.

Past TNBT Girls: Some of you weren’t around for the start of this “The Next Best Thing” stuff, so I guess I should go back and talk a bit about them. The first one was Teagan Pressley back in 2004. I did so much fawning over her after that show, that the name The Next Big Thing just stuck. Scored with that one. In 2005, it was Keri Sable who got the nod. She did some really good gonzo work and signed with Wicked. Keri was gone by the end of the year, but it was still a pretty pick I think. Last year didn’t go quite as well. I was totally impressed by young Emily but she never really surfaced. She was cute, had GREAT tits and seemed totally fun. She was also a hot girl who didn’t seem like a porn chick. So I picked her instead of Naomi or my other favorite Tia Tanaka and that blew up on me. Still, two out of three isn’t bad. I’m not worried about this year’s pick. Shay Jordan is gorgeous, she is talented and she seems like she will be thrilling us for a while. We can all hope so.

Lunch With Shay Jordan: Oh and Robby D too. So I cruised up to the Valley for lunch yesterday. For those of you who keep asking me why I don’t do it more often, let me just say this. I left home at 10AM and got to the DP offices at a little before noon. I left the office at 2:30 and got home at 4:35. That’s about four hours on the freeway so you know it has to be pretty special for me to make that drive. (Bitch, bitch, bitch) At any rate, I had good reason to make the drive. I had to present Shay Jordan with her RRCC trophy for winning the first The Next Big Thing award. I met Robby at the DP offices and got a look at some new stuff he’s been shooting. We cruised over to his place where Shay was waiting. Well, she wasn’t waiting exactly. She was getting ready. I passed the time talking to Robby’s girl Celeste. (She was Bunny Luv when I interviewed her in 2003) By the time Shay came out (looking AMAZING) we were hungry and ready for lunch. Robby drove us to a sushi place nearby. It was one of those rotating sushi bar things where the trays came by on the back of tiny boats. It is pretty hard to focus on eating when Shay is sitting next to you talking about her next big scene. This weekend Robby is shooting Shay in a three-way with Jesse Jane and Ben English. That is bound to be a hot scene. Both Shay and Jesse talked about how ready they were to work together during our interviews in Vegas. With Ben along for the ride, Shay could be in trouble. We figured that she will either have the time of her life or end up in the hospital. Either way, I’m going to do my best to be on set and witness this hot scene. After getting her award, we all headed back and before hitting the road I swung back by the DP offices. I met their new road salesman. He is going to be out dealing directly with video stores. I think that’s a great idea. (Of course Rog Reviews in every video store would also be a good idea.) I also picked up an HD-DVD copy of Island Fever 3. That will obviously be my first HD review. More on that later. This was all about Shay. As you can see from the eye candy. She is freaking gorgeous and quite worthy of the title The Next Big Thing.

Vegas Leftovers Part 1: I have covered just about everything from Vegas this year, but there were a few things I left out. As I mentioned, my interview with Whitney Stevens went really well. She kept telling me I was hot and came back over later to say it during another interview. Very flattering until I hear from two different directors that she flirts that way with everyone. Hey, I’m not complaining. Any time a totally hot girl half my age says I’m hot, I am going to take it to the bank. Perhaps it isn’t the budding sexual relationship I was hoping for, but I’ll take it. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time talking to Luke Ford (www.LukeIsBack.com) or Mike South (www.MikeSouth.com). Both of them were really busy every time I saw them. Perhaps my old friends just don’t have time for me. That is never the case with Den (www.CAVR.com) The King of Internet reviewers always goes out of his way to talk to me and honors me yearly with his continued friendship. This year I got a chance to meet HoustonDon for the first time. It was a short meeting, but it was nice to stand face to face with the guy who slammed my integrity over that Cheek Freaks review. Nice to meet ya Don. I also got to meet Paul Fishbein briefly. He was very busy, but we got a chance to talk about the awards. I thanked him for letting me vote, he thanked me for participating and we talked a little about family. He also said that he’d like to “do more things together” with our sites. I’m all for that. Animosity, what animosity? Seriously, I’ve never had anything from good experiences with Paul. It was an honor to meet him and as always, an honor to be included on the list of people who vote for the AVN Awards. (Yeah, but Neu Wave Hookers? Really?)
