Adult Con, Interviews & Some Stuff
Adult Con This Weekend: Those of you in the Southern California area may want to pop over to the LA Convention center today, tomorrow or Sunday for Adult Con. I can’t believe I have miss another one, but I am booked all weekend with family stuff. Damn the luck. These things are generally pretty fun and I’d love to pop by for a few interviews. Perhaps I can sneak off campus before the USC game tomorrow for an hour or so. It costs $35, but that is for a three day pass and include a $5 shopping credit. There is a nice list of stars who will be in attendance this year including Cindy Crawford (Interview), Kimberly Kane, Gianna Lynn, Sunny Lane (Interview) and the always awesome Nautica Thorn (New Interview). Shy Love (Interview) will also be there in her Adult Talent Managers booth. She has promised a very special surprise for fans so make sure to stop by early to avoid the long line that are sure to form for this unique, hands-on experience. Social/Political Gumbo: I really didn’t want to do a lot of pop/politics this weekend, but there are a few things. One reader wrote in asking about OJ and why I haven’t comment. What is there to say? Dude killed two people and right now I am wasting precious seconds talking about him. More than he deserves. At least this time no one got killed. How’s that? All this talk in Congress about investigating the NY Times needs to stop. Did they give the MoveOn folks a 102K discount? Yes. So you might have a case for calling it a campaign contribution if they didn’t give Rudy the exact same rate for his reply. I’m not fan of the Times, but it is highly likely that they just don’t get 167K for a one page ad these days. Don’t we have something better to do than to argue over this? And voting on a resolution to condemn the ad? Who cares? I actually like that Obama refused to vote. At least he isn’t on record as either supporting that hateful swill or of wasting time discussing MoveOn’s right to keep pumping out such crap. Like OJ, Sorors and his band don’t deserve these precious seconds. We can do more on the President or Iran in a bit. That A-Hole needs his own segment. Oh yeah, Barry Manilow now says the whole “View” thing was “just a misunderstanding.” Right, you badly misunderstood your audience’s willingness to let your narrow-minded political BS interfere with that they want. (Which is for you to shut up and sing Barry.)

Jack Venice: So Jack has turned himself in and entered a non-guilty plea in his robbery/sexual assault case. He is, of course innocent until proven guilty so what follows is simply a topic for discussion. Former porn performer Shelly Lubben sent out a letter urging the industry not to hire Mr. Venice until his guilt or innocence has been determined. It is an interesting point that goes beyond this case. Doe the porn industry have a responsibility to protect the talent working on sets from sexual predators? Should someone who has been convicted of sexual crimes or violent crimes against women (Or anyone for that matter) be welcomed into an industry where young women are placed in vulnerable sexual situations where they must trust those in charge of the sets? It is a very interesting point and something that everyone should think about in light of this case as well as several others that have come up in recent month. What do you think? If you work in the industry as a director, producer or for a company, would you hire a convicted rapist as talent or even to work on your set? (Your answer can be posted anonymously.) How about viewers? Would you watch a movie starring male talent or directed by a convicted rapist or sex criminal?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: OK so this guy is in the news. We need to at least address him. The NYPD wouldn’t let him go to Ground Zero. I’m OK with that. This is a guy who is funding the very people who crashed those planes. Having him there would be like spitting on the memory of everyone who died. Now he has been invited to speak at Columbia University. To be honest, I don’t have THAT big of a problem with that either. Unlike Iran, people in this country enjoy First Amendment protection. If the University wants to invite him in order to expand the discussion of world issues, it is their right to do so. On the other hand, this is a University that won’t allow ROTC on campus and has often acted against expanding the debate. This is a man who has called for the destruction of Israel. He is a holocaust denier and was one of the people involved in the kidnapping of American diplomats twenty five years ago. Is he really worth inviting? What is it that Columbia hopes he will add to the debate? Would they invite other Holocaust deniers to speak just to “add to the debate.” We believe in Free Speech in America, but not all speech is equal. Some stuff just isn’t worth listening to and someone who has called for the destruction of a nation based on religious hatred would probably qualify. Ahmadinejad should be allowed to speak only if he can be questioned by students on any issue. If he wants a platform to legitimize his hateful bile, then he should have to stand up against the heat. He should be made to defend his anti-Semitic, anti-American rhetoric. Perhaps they should let some of the American hostages he held years ago sit on the stage and question him. Perhaps we could send Luke Ford to grill him a bit. I’d pay to see that. Or maybe that “don’t taze me bro” duckweed could show up and ask if Ahmadinejad was in Skull & Bones. Instead I would wager that it will be a collection of Anti-Bush softballs designed to make this murderous douchebag seem like the good guy just fighting that evil American cowboy. I can get that Then again maybe someone will ask him the pressing question….boxers or briefs. Or maybe someone can slip one of OJ’s game-worn jocks into Mahmoud’s pocket and then tip off the Juice. Look folks, all joking aside. This mother fucker is a vile piece of shit who would destroy any one of us in a heartbeat. If Columbia wants him to speak, fine. It’s their choice. I am all for adding varying points of view to the debate, but I honestly don’t want to hear anything he has to say. I tend not to listen to raving anti-Semites, but hey, that’s just me.
