Why So Much Digital Playground?

Hey Rog- Been a reader for a few years and love your reviews. I am a huge Blu-Ray fan and even do some mainstream reviews on a few other sites. I read your BR reviews closely and have noticed two things I wondered if you could address. First, they are technically light, even weak. No talk of anything beyond a vague mention of the picture quality. You don’t ever talk about the sound quality. I know that might be a little nerdy, but some of us want to know. Secondly, why are all of your Blu-Ray reviews Digital Playground movies? With so many studios releasing BR these days I am shocked to see that 90% of your reviews are still plain old DVDs. What gives? Thanks for your time and the reviews.

Thanks for writing BRD and thank you for reading. First off you’re right. My reviews are not long on the tech specs. That kind of stuff just never works for me. Listing all the specs on a DVD just seems less important to me than what is on the disc itself. Does it really matter how good something looks if the sex is lame? I do try to mention when the picture quality is exceptional and do mention sound issues when they get in the way. Mostly I want the picture and sound to not be a distraction. That’s perhaps a weakness in my reviews, but I hope to make up for that with good coverage of the girls, the sex and hopefully a bit of entertainment value along the way. Perhaps you would like to throw some of your reviews our way? I would love to read them and I am sure that the other tech fans would love to see a different voice on this site. To your second point, you are right again. While not all of my Blu-Ray reviews are Digital Playground, the vast majority have been. (27 our of 41 to be exact) That’s mostly because they are the studio that sends me Blu-Rays on a regular basis. I have reviewed JM Productions, Vivid, Elegant Angel, Adam & Eve, Pink Visual and Kick Ass Blu-Ray movies when they send them to me. This is probably my fault. I haven’t emailed the companies to let them know that I am doing Blu-Ray as well as standard DVDs. (In fact I am working on converting all movie reviews to the same format so they all fit into the same search.) I haven’t spoken to anyone at Wicked about their BR’s or Evil Angel or Jules Jordan Video. I know that New Sensations has some, Zero Tolerance etc. Believe me, I am looking for any Blu-Ray titles that come way, but haven’t gone out there asked like I should. (I should probably hit up Hustler come to think of it.) If someone reading this knows who to pass the request on to, by all means….
Thanks again for the input and I will continue to work on making my reviews work for as many people as possible. Perhaps I can hit up some new studios and you can teach me what really matters to the tech crowd.
