For those of you who didn’t stay up last night to watch the ABC Primetime Thursday hatchet job, you didn’t miss much. It was at least half re-hash of the bullshit interview Dianne Sawyer did with Belladonna last year. Why didn’t someone debunk this thing last time around. The timeline doesn’t make sense, her mom is sitting right there and they somehow turn Bella into a victim. Mixed in this with this interview and the usual ‘shocking’ story about corporate profits from porn was some new stuff on the HIV crisis. It might have been a stronger hour if they had just stuck to the new stuff and not trotted out stock footage from 1999.

The Lara Roxx segment was at least interesting. Her bitterness is understandable and with the help of Ms. Sawyer and Sharon Mitchell, she nails herself to a cross. At least they touched on something that should be painfully obvious; that Brazil is not a good place to shoot unprotected anal scenes. I don’t want to sound like I am coming down on Lara because her response is totally justified. It just gets run through the usual meat grinder.

We return to the hand-wringing interview with Bella’s mom taking part. What the hell is a porn star mom going to say? She breaks out the stories of divorce, molestation and then make her plea to the corporations who profit from porn. (Gag) This interview seems to have been done when Bella was in an “I’m out of porn for good” phase and I wonder how long this attitude lasted before she ended up back in the saddle.

They re-hash their corporate porn story. Yawn. I know this is supposed to upset Mr. and Mrs. Middle-America, but I am glad that Time/Fox/Hilton etc. make money from porn. Hey Diane, I have news for you. YOU profit from porn too. You did a whole freaking hour on a re-cut of stuff you did last year. Or maybe ABC donated the money from this show to charity? What about you Diane? Did you forfeit your salary to right the wrongs?

In the end we find out that Bella is pregnant and that may be the only real news offered in this pathetic hour of re-hashed bullshit.

Do I sound harsh? Look, there are problems in the porn industry and this HIV crisis is a huge story. I just wonder why ABC would give us 10 minutes of new stuff mixed in with old crap rather than actually doing some good reporting.

I guess that is too much to ask eh?
