The hip-hop/porn cross over has spread throughout the world of X. Some of the biggest names in rap have put their names on porn projects. Sex & the Studio is Metro’s entrance into the urban sex/music video game. The DVD comes with a bonus CD, featuring 14 tracks from the movie. The mix of hip hop and porn has drastically improved the quality of music in adult movies, but it also presents us with a problem. If you don’t happen to dig Snoop Dogg, Digital Underground or the kind of music they make, then you’re in for a rather long afternoon. The camera takes us behind the scenes at some very hot parties. Some of the interviews are incomprehensible, but for those looking for a further blurring of the lines between porn and celebrity reality TV, this is the kind of stuff you’re bound to enjoy.
The first scene has Tony Eveready fucking Caramel on a couch. People are milling about as they fuck. Nothing kills sexual heat faster than cutting away from the action to continue an interview with a semi-wasted rap star. There is some decent sex going on as the big-assed babe gets nailed in piledriver.
After that opener, Humpty interviews some party-goers. This is funny footage and fits in nicely with the next interview. Obsession sits down and asks Redman some seriously personal questions. All of this is very interesting, but I wonder how many porn viewers really want to see more than twenty minutes of non-sex in the first thirty minutes of a movie.
Scene number two has Tiffany Mason hooking up with Mr. Marcus in a studio. She is impressed and ready to drop her jeans in a heartbeat. This time we don’t cut away from the action and that’s a good thing. Tiffany gives really good head and works his dick with great expertise. Marcus sits back on the couch and lets the skinny girl bounce up and down on his rod. Her hips really get going and don’t slow down no matter what position they try. Right in the middle of the scene, we pick up the action in another part of the studio. Man, just when I about to praise how much things had picked up. Pretty Lacey gets down on her knees for Suave. You have to love the ethnic mix here and there is some really good toy play. April becomes the center of the action and she gets her tight pussy crammed full of fake cock along the way.
After a long series of interviews, we get to the grand finale. The Sex Olympics features Daisy Dukes, Dia Diva, Divina and Chloe Black competing in a series of events. The girls start off with a lap dance and move into masturbation to gain points from the judges. With the party atmosphere, it’s hard to get much heat, but it’s a lot of fun to watch the girls fuck themselves silly with their toys. They finish with a blowjob competition that has the crowd standing and cheering. It’s a lot of fun, but it leaves us with a really long time at the end of the movie without a lot of solid, traditional action.
This is a movie for people who aren’t looking for the usual stroke flick. Granted, there are a couple of decent sex scenes, but this is more about hip-hop parties and interviews with rap stars. Some of this stuff is really interesting, but you have to really love hip-hop or you’re going to really have a hard time sitting through this. Chalk this one up as a mainstream cross over for an urban audience that is more party video than porno.
DVD Extras- There is a whole section dedicated to additional interviews. If you had fun with these in the movie, there are plenty more. The bonus section has a ton of things that didn’t make it into the movie. Bloopers, The Money Game and other sections of varying entertainment level. When you add in the music CD, you have a very solid set of extras.
