After years of perfecting their style, the folks at Anabolic have decided that what porn really needs is a curve ball. Having created, popularized and perfected the all-sex branch of the gonzo tree, Anabolic is set to create a new genre of porn. From the unique packaging to the clever faux-reviews quoted on the back, this is a departure from the stuff we have come to expect from Anabolic. Co-directors Sal Genoa and Su promise to give us something that is harder than a feature and prettier than gonzo. Don’t we already have movies like that? At any rate, the Anabolic track record tells us that if anyone can pull it off, it is this group of guys. At any rate, the girls are cute so let’s hope that Sal and Su can balance the art with the core to give us something pretty and strokeable. (Hey, when is the last time you saw an Anabolic movie with a screenplay credit?)

Joel Lawrence arrives at a place of business at closing time. Katsumi is there and is sucking his cock in a matter of moments. The sex is very hot and things looks a lot like a ‘normal’ Anabolic scene except for the pretty bed and the more feature-like lighting. In a dimly-lit hallway, Belladonna and Gia Paloma hook up for some nasty strap-on sex. This scene reminds me of something John Leslie might have shot a few years back. Eva Angelina sets up shot and gets face-fucked in the dark. The action gets a little sketchy here in the middle with some random sex scenes popping up and a bit too much shadowy footage going on. There is some hot action with Nautica Thorn of course. She is amazing looking and really knows how to ride a big cock. It is part of a group scene, but whenever the camera is on Nautica, the action is fantastic. The best shots come when she is riding hard and bouncing that luscious ass up and down. After this scene comes to an end, Nautica gets blasted on the face in the bathroom. It’s odd, but who is going to complain about a facial this hot?

For a final fuck, we get a blonde girl who is plowed so hard and covered in cream by enough guys to make it look like a bukakke finale. There is no real finish to the movie, so I wouldn’t necessarily call it a feature. Instead we just say good bye to the com covered babe as if this were any other Anabolic flick.

I don’t know if I would go so far as to say that this movie has created a new genre. It certainly shows a different type of movie than Anabolic usually shoots. The lighting is particularly good from a technical standpoint. The best scenes are lit brilliantly and even the ones that are too dark for my taste are done this way on purpose. Some of the sex is pretty rough and it’s all as hard as we are used to from the guys at Anabolic. I didn’t like all of it, but that is to be expected with some of this stuff. The girls are hot and the make up is pretty damn good. Yes this is a prettier Anabolic, but is certainly no kinder nor gentler. I would have enjoyed a bit more story, but I suppose this is as close to a plot as we can hope for. In the end, Artcore is a perfect title for this movie. It is hard-core with great technical skills. Does that make it art? I don’t know about that, but it is certainly artfully made hardcore and that makes it worth a look.
