JOONE’S “PIRATES”
FEATURED ON COLLEGE CAMPUS

Joone’s “Pirates” has had several sold-out showings at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, each to thousands of students. CMU students began showing the film on Sunday November 20, 2005 in Mc Conomy Auditorium. The screenings were promoted and run by AB Films, which is a part of CMU’s activity board. The event was promoted as ‘TBA: Pirates,’ which is a campus euphemism for publicly screened porn. Chloe Connelly, the Films Chair says, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen people so excited about a movie on campus. The [Pirates] poster was fantastic. There were more people interested than we could let in. The screening was phenomenal! We were at capacity and everyone I’ve talked to thus far has had a really positive response and said they had a really good time. There was a lot of audience participation.” KDKA’s Marty Griffin reports, “Many events are held at the CMU student center, but none drew the crowd that ‘Pirates’ drew. Newsweek magazine touts ‘Pirates’ as ‘A sprawling epic’ in their November 28th issue and AVN’s Editor in Chief, Mike Ramone acknowledges that “Pirates” has become ‘a cultural phenomenon.’ “Pirates” received a record 24 nominations for AVN’s 2006 award show, more nods than any other single title has received, throughout the history of adult entertainment.
