We’re in the Anabolic booth here at CES, with Mr. Lexington Steele. Thank you for taking the time to talk to the readers.

Finally.

I know. We’ve been talking about this for nearly a year and here we go. Let’s get a little on your background. Where are you from?

I’m from New Jersey.

What were you like growing up?

I was just a regular guy. I played sports in high school, focusing on track and soccer and was a two sport all American as a senior. I went to a big college, came out of school did the corporate America thing like mom and dad wanted me to. After about five years, I decided it wasn’t what I wanted to do. I wanted to do the things I wanted while I could still do them, so I made the transition into adult.

How long have you been in adult?

It will be three years in March.

While you were doing the whole corporate thing, did you have your eye on porn as something you wanted to do?

I’ve watched adult films forever. The question was always, if I had a chance to do it, would I do? Then, could I do it? It was always in the back of my mind. I finally started shooting some stuff in Manhattan in the latter part of 1997, then Michael Raven brought me out LA. I did my first scene there in November of 1997, returned in March of 1998 and have been doing it ever since.

Let’s get right to the meat of the matter. Even before you got into porn, you had to realize you were carrying something special.

(He laughs) Yeah.

At what point growing up do you realize that you’re packing?

I didn’t really know that I was any bigger than the guys I grew up with. I didn’t even get laid until May of my senior year in high school. The girl I was with the first time was about six years older than me. I was only seventeen, but she had probably already seen a dick as big as mine in her time. If she were to see me now, ten years and five and a half inches later, she might feel differently. It wasn’t until I got to college that some girl actually said ‘Oh my God, I’ve never seen anything like this.” From then on, it seemed like every girl said the same thing. Now even in adult, with girls who have seen hundreds of dicks, I still stand out.

You came out and started working full time in 1998, got popular really fast and won the AVN Performer of the year last year.

That was quite an honor.

What happened this year?

That’s an interesting question. This year, I received six nominations. I had three for best group, two for best boy/girl and I’m up for best male actor. The greatest issue for me this year is the omission form the Best Male Performer category. I have no idea why that happened. I know there are some politics involved. I can’t comment on things I don’t know for sure, but I know they exist and I may have been caught in between some people.

We should investigate.

(He laughs) There is another possibility. The first nine months of 2000, I was out of the country seven to ten days a month. You book your scenes a week in advance, so I was losing a week on either side of that time I was out of the country. It didn’t leave me as much time to work as I would have liked. I may have done fewer scenes than last year, but I have to say the quality of my work improved greatly.

Then you have to wonder why they left you off the list.

The omission is a mystery to everyone. I’ve seen you write about it. The truth is, if you asked every guy on the Best Male list who the best performer in the US is, they would say it’s me. I’m not being arrogant, but I work next to these guys and they’re all blown away.

So you think you’re the best?

Except for Rocco. Rocco is the only performer who is on a different level than anyone else.

Then you do feel slighted?

My omission is something I’ve taken personally. I’ve worked very, very hard to do the best job possible. I want to give the best scene, the best angle and the best energy. I make sure to always give them something they haven’t seen before.  With all humility, there is no one working today who gives a better scene than me. Except for Rocco. Like I said, he’s on another level. Half the stuff I do, I got from watching Rocco, the other half, I’ve made up myself.

Are you going to go to the awards?

I will be in attendance and I hope that some of my work will be appreciated.

Do you expect to win anything?

I don’t know. I can tell you this, I have two nominations for scenes, one with Inari Vachs and one with Alexandra Nice. Those movies are from Wicked and Video Team. In both scenes, I struggled. I wasn’t woodless, but I struggled. How these scenes got nominated, I don’t know.

You don’t know, or don’t want to say?

Let’s just say that there are some politics involved and leave it at that. I’m really happy about the best actor nomination because I only did one big feature this year.

It’s nice to be recognized.

Absolutely. Last year when I won for best anal scene, the realization that mine was one anal scene out of thousands that was singled out was overwhelming.

Do you enjoy the acting part or is it still all about the sex?

For me, it’s still about the sex. I’m still the same guy who spends two hours picking out the perfect porn tape. I’m still a guy who would watch porn six or seven hours a day if I weren’t working. I enjoy what I do.

How many movies have you done?

It’s hard to give an accurate number, but I’ve been told it’s over three hundred and fifty.

That’s a lot.

I was told that I was the most shot new talent since TT Boy and that meant a lot because to me, TT is the number one American performer of all time. Being mentioned in the same breath with him was an honor.

You’ve done a lot of work for Anabolic and now you’re shooting movies for them.

As a matter of fact, I just completed volume one of my series, “Balls Deep.”

Tell us about that.

I’m trying to do a few things a little differently. You look around here and you see women walking around and in your mind, you buy the whole package. If you see a woman, like that one over there, with tight jeans on, you buy that. I want to shoot scenes where she keeps that on, but still gets fucked. It’s like seeing a girl up on the runway and being able to get up on there with here and fuck her on the runway.

What about the title?

At Anabolic, staying true to your title is very important. So the girls will be taking all of it. Every position, the guys are to go balls deep. I need a hundred miles an hour, a hundred and fifty percent in each position. If they need a break in between, fine, but when the cameras are rolling, I want everything they’ve got.

I assume you’re performing in some of the scenes?

Yes, some. I am lucky enough to pull from a great talent pool. All of the guys I used are someone’s number one performer. I did perform in two of the scenes and might do three or four in future volumes.

Is that the most you want to do in a movie?

That’s part of it. One thing that we’re fighting is a wave of performers who won’t do interracial. A lot of the girls I would like to shoot, don’t do interracial. The bottom line is that these girls are fucking strangers and it shouldn’t matter whether the dick is black, white or otherwise. I want to put together the best scenes possible, so if there is a girl who won’t shoot interracial, I’ll pair her with someone else because it’s my job to bring the best scenes into the video.

So if a girl came to you and said no to interracial, you would still put her in your movie with someone else?

Roger, one thing I’ve learned is that porn is not a bully pulpit. It’s about making adult videos for people to masturbate to. A lot of times it’s tough to swallow my politics, but I have a commitment to the people watching the video. I know that if I’m at home jerking off, I just want to get off, I’m not worried about a girl’s policy. I don’t want the consumer to be bothered with that, I’m just going to bring them the hottest scenes I can. If I’m in the scene, great. If I’m not, I’ve got Erik Everhard, Vince, Marc Davis, Mr. Marcus or Jon Dough, so I know it’s covered. To be in with Anabolic and Diabolic means that I’ve got the best male talent in the world to choose from. It’s like playing for the Yankees, the 49ers or the Lakers. You’ve got Jerry West and Stienbrenner, but we’ve got Chris Alexander and Gregg Allen.

Are you directing exclusively for Anabolic and Diabolic?

Balls Deep is an Anabolic line, but we’re looking for a Diabolic line down the road.  For now, I want to make sure that Balls Deep is done right.

Do you have any favorite women that you’ve worked with?

The single greatest sexual experience of my life was with Nina Hartley. I say that without hesitation or fear of consequences. Her body is better than ninety percent of the twenty two year olds around. Being with her was a fantasy come true and that’s what I love about this business. There is a black girl named Cinnabunz who was in Gangbang Auditions 4 who is a strong performer. Also, Silvia Saint is the best female performer in the world right now. I’ve been everywhere and Silvia is the best.

Do you think race has played a part in closing or opening some doors for you?

That’s a good question. In 98 when I started, there weren’t a lot of girls saying they wouldn’t do interracial. Someone out there is planting seeds in these girls’ heads that doing interracial is detrimental to their career. The bottom line is that they are being paid for sex. It doesn’t matter if the guy’s dick is purple, you’re going to suck it because you’re being paid to. It’s a fallacy to say that a girl’s career will be hurt in any way by doing interracial.

How has that impacted you and your career path?

I’m lucky enough to have had Sean Micahels pave the way for me. It’s because of Sean that I’ve been given some things that in the past, wouldn’t have been offered to black guys. Sean has more class than ninety percent of the mainstream population. He just happens to do adult. He has made it possible for people to see me as a performer who can work with anyone. What’s happening is that it doesn’t matter. You would think that winning Male Performer of the Year would make a difference. It made no difference. There are girls in this booth right now, who have done gangbangs where I had to sit out because they don’t do interracial. The adult world is one case where bigotry is allowed to prosper. There is a difference between what is paid to white and black female performers that would shock you. I am lucky enough to always get my rate, but some people pay that grudgingly. They have a hard time paying me the same amount that they pay a Marc Davis.

How do you combat that?

I just work hard to make sure that I’m worth every penny through my performance.

Have you ever been involved off screen with any of the women in the business?

I’ve had three girlfriends in this business. I was involved with Monique who everyone knows. I was also involved with Cinnabunz. My girlfriend now is this beautiful blonde right here, Blazer. We’re nominated for a scene with Mr. Marcus for West Side. The bottom line is that there shouldn’t be a color line in a business where everyone is paid to perform sex on film. It’s not about getting on a soapbox, but that’s my feeling.

How do you feel about the way black videos are marketed and how they portray African Americans. I picked up some Jake Steed stuff and there is your picture on a monkey body.

Sure, I’ve seen those.

What is a white director came to you and said “I’m going to superimpose your head on a monkey body?” Might you have second thoughts?

There would definitely be second thoughts. To address that issue, you have to understand some of the ways that blacks are portrayed in this industry. The budget for the same anal oriented video can differ by five to six thousand based on whether it’s a white oriented or a black oriented video. For the same shit.

Do you think that maybe the audience for an all-black feature is smaller than for a mixed movie? For example, Anabolic features people of all colors and appeals to the same.

I do a lot of work for West Coast Productions, a lot of work for Video Team who put out strong black on black lines. The market for that is a strong market because it gets one hundred percent of the black viewers. That’s a force to be reckoned with. Just because the rest of the market is bigger, doesn’t mean that black videos should be of lesser quality. If you make a good black video, a hundred percent of all black people will buy that video. No matter how good of a white video you make, one hundred percent of white people won’t buy that video. It is a case of numbers and there is room for quality women of color line. I might mention that to Diabolic and see what happens. The bottom line is that the marketing is different. As far as what Jake is doing, taking that from a comedic point of view, I’m fine with that. There is a lot of fun being made with the taboo and Jake exploits that in a way that doesn’t offend anyone. I saw those box covers and I wasn’t offended. If that was put out by a white director, yes I might have been offended.

Isn’t that a double standard?

It’s like certain terms that can be traded among blacks, but that you couldn’t say. It’s just a reality.

All right, let’s move to the easier questions. How tall are you?

Six-two.

And how big is the dick?

(He laughs) It’s eleven inches, honest.

Have their been any women who have been able to take that all down their throat?

There have been two girls who have been able to swallow my eleven inch dick. Bobbi Bliss did it a Video Team movie called “A Taste of Mocha.” That was shot very well, so you could literally see her go all the way to the base of my dick. There is a girl from Texas and right now I can’t remember her name.

Were you a little surprised the first time one of them was able to go that deep?

Bobbi had been so highly recommended that I was kind of expecting something great. When she did it, it was a bit painful actually.

Painful?

Yeah, but my feeling is that in this business everyone has their niche. Bobbi’s niche, her claim to fame, is her ability to give deep blowjobs. At about eight or nine inches, her molars were really digging into my dick. The last three inches were very painful, but for her, getting it all the way down was a feather in her cap. I wasn’t going to take that away from her by stopping the scene. In return, I asked her to look into my eyes when I was fucking her. She has beautiful eyes and it really turned me on. I was able to do a better scene because she was willing to do that little extra for me. That’s what makes for a great relationship on camera.

What about the yell you do at the end of the scene? A lot of fans seem to think it’s an act and that maybe you’re overdoing it, but I’ve heard from people in the industry that you really are just that excited about popping.

A lot of guys try to be cool when they are performing. When you’re fucking and you’re enjoying it, you’re not cool. No one is cool when they’re fucking a hot chick. Your pride goes out the door and you’re just enjoying being with her. I get to fuck a lot of hot chicks. How would you be if you got to fuck Alana? You would be screaming to, so I’m the same on camera as I would be at home. I choose not to try and cool. Instead, I’m real and you know that it feels as good as it looks. When I cum, my reaction is from the heart. That’s why I don’t do it every time.

How do you get your scenes so intense?

I get myself ready to cum in the first position, within the first few minutes. Then, for the rest of the scene, I’m holding back. You’re at your most intense when you’re ready to cum and that’s how I am for forty-five minutes. That’s another reason why I cum like I do. I’ve been holding it for a long time.

Do you have a web site?

I have one that is currently under construction. It’s going to be www.lexingtonSteele.net Some guy registered the full name, so that’s not my site.

I don’t know if you’re aware of it, but the readers of www.rogreviews.com voted you as Best Male Performer.

I saw that, I was very proud.

Congratulations on that.

I wanted to say thank you very much for their votes and appreciation. I want them to know that that award means more to me than winning ANV last year. AVN is a group of fifteen guys who have their own agenda and reasons for picking who they pick. I want the appreciation of the guy who is like me, who loves porn and is out there spending hard earned money on the tapes. I want them to know how much I appreciate recognition from. I’m out there doing my best for them. It’s all real and it’s a lot of fun.

Thanks very much for your time.

Thanks Rog.
