“PIRATES” BREAKS RECORDS AT AVN’s 2006 AWARD SHOW
Joone’s “Pirates” took 11 top trophies at AVN’s 2006 Award Show, more honors than any single video or film production in the shows’ 23-year history. The awards included Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best DVD, Best Video Feature, Best High-Definition Production, Best Special Effects, Best Music, Best All-Girl Sex Scene and Best On-Line Marketing Campaign. The AVN Awards are achievement-based awards dedicated to recognizing the outstanding products and talented individuals that have contributed to the advancement of the adult entertainment industry. AVN Award recipients are determined by a vote of qualified industry peers and fellow professionals. The integrity of this process, together with a broad-based voting population, make the AVN Awards the most credible, respected and recognized awards in adult entertainment. AVN Senior Editor, Jared Rutter writes, “Pirates made land at the Venetian Hotel for the 2006 AVN Awards last night and pretty much wasted the competition in the video feature categories.”
In a year with a record number of big budget adult releases, Digital Playground is extremely pleased that the cast and crew of “Pirates” were on stage accepting awards throughout the night. Robby D. accepted the award for Best High Definition production stating, “it is an honor to work with Joone and Digital Playground and to push a new format to the market.” Contract Star Janine accepted two awards, thanking AVN, Digital Playground and giving top props to director Joone for his vision and relentless attention to develop her character. Host of the show, Digital Playground’s own Jesse Jane was honored for her girl / girl scene with Janine and she also credited Joone for building the sexual chemistry and tension. Best Actor, Evan Stone was all smiles as he added Joone to the top of the Best Directors list in his acceptance speech but it was Digital Playground President, Samantha Lewis who summed up the honors. In her comments for the final award of the evening, Best Video Feature, Lewis said, “I’d like to thank AVN for acknowledging “Pirates” in so many categories, our incredible partners Adam & Eve, my partner Joone for his amazing visionary artistry, all of our talented staff and the most beautiful and talented contract stars our industry has ever seen.”
“Pirates” was also named 2005’s #1 DVD by DVD Talk, 2005’s Best Feature by Rog Reviews, 2005’s Critic’s Choice by Adult DVD Reviews, 2005’s First Choice by Nightmoves, and 2005’s Best DVD by Italy’s Ciarltano. Director Joone is very pleased, “I’d like to thank AVN and every organization who has honored this movie.
