In case you’re looking for a great DVD to watch this weekend, I picked up two that really shouldn’t be missed this week.

First is a documentary that is simply amazing. “Capturing the Friedmans” is one of the best movies I have seen all year. Forget best documentary, this one should be up for best picture. It’s a great look at the criminal justice system, how it can be mis-used (If in this case it was, the film makers leave room for doubt.) and the way something like a huge child molestation case can destroy a family. To make things more interesting, the film makers were able to use real family home video taken during the ordeal (Late 1980’s) to make it even more intriguing. The DVD is packed with extras that go deeper into the case, use more home movies and focus on some of the debate sparked by the film when it opened. Someone should buy Michael Moore a copy of this so he can see the difference between a documentary and a total work of fiction in.

My second pick for the weekend is “Wonderland.” When this movie came out I was very impressed and I think it was overlooked for Oscar noms and now it’s on DVD. The movie itself is great and Val Kilmer is brilliant, but as an added bonus they have included the Holmes documentary WADD on a second disc. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen this and it’s really good. For anyone who wants to peek into the life of a legend or learn more about the Wonderland killings, WADD is a great place to start. Check it out, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

And while we’re at it, in my CD player this week is a freaking great CD from Good Charlotte. Enjoy.
