With a 9-5 win on Saturday, the Angels locked up a trip to the next round of the playoffs. That means games in Oakland or Minnesota on Tues and Wed.

If the A’s win on Sunday, I’ll be taking a little road trip up the coast to watch the first two games of the series. I apologize ahead of time if I’m not able to update the news part of this site on those days.

Saturday’s game was not as tense as Friday’s but every bit as much fun. After trailing 2-1 through 4.5 innings, the Angels went freaking nuts in the fifth inning. A lead off homer by Wooten tied the game at 2, but that was just the start for David Wells. 8 hits later, 7 of them singles, the Angels had built up a 9-2 lead and found themselves just 12 outs away from knocking off the mighty Yankees. After some scary moments in the 7th, Rodriguez and Percival once again slammed the door to secure the win.

Congratulations to the Angels. They have really made this season fun for me and I hope I’ll be following them out on the road this week.
